a simple enough question. It's obvious that the facts don't support building a wall. There is no "invasion", no "threat", no "national emergency". So, what's really fueling the need for a border wall along our entire southern border? Why isn't there the same hysteria about the northern border? Why isn't there the same sentiment being expressed about those who overstay their visas? Why not against employers that hire undocumented aliens?

Including, ironically, Trump's own businesses.

Trump supporters are a bit of a enigma. They chanted that Mexico would pay for the wall. But now , they seem to have forgotten about that. They don't seem to have any sympathy for federal workers being unwilling collateral damage for what they want. They don't seem to care abut anything except what Trump tells them to care about.

So then the question.

Is Trump's wall a monument to racism?

It's clearly nothing more than a symbol. But, a symbol of what? We're a nation of immigrants. Or , at least, we were once upon a time. What are we now? What's the "threat" here? Is the wall finally the last best hope for those who feel their status declining because of demographic shifts? Listen to the way Laura Ingraham put it......

“Because in some parts of the country, it does seem like the America that we know and love doesn’t exist anymore,” Ingraham said. “Massive demographic changes have been foisted upon the American people and they’re changes that none of us ever voted for and most of us don’t like. From Virginia to California, we see stark examples of how radically in some ways the country has changed. Now, much of this is related to both illegal and in some cases, legal immigration that, of course, progressives love.”
Fox News Host Laura Ingraham Clarifies Remarks On Immigration

Then there is Trump himself.

Remember when all the networks refused to air an ad put out by his campaign because it was too racist?

NBC, Fox, Facebook pull Trump immigration ad that CNN called 'racist'

The evidence seems irrefutable. People are afraid of what Ingraham called "massive demographic" changes and Trump's wall is a symbol of that fear.

What say you?

There is nothing racist about a wall.

It's just a wall.

The only person that would think a wall was racist would be someone who believes there's a racist behind every bush.

A person OBSESSED with race .....

A Leftist.
care to address any of the actual arguments made? What was Ingraham talking about? Why did Trump, himself, use racist ads to promote his wall?

The Watchman,

Of course not. But as usual, when a liberal can't mount a rational argument, they shout "you be racist."

why the racist ads then? Why is Fox New constantly engaging in offensive narratives about migrants on our southern border?
To inculcate fence sitters with a belief in the need for such a monument? I once worked (a long time ago) on a press team for a political party and I know damn well that to have legislation passed, or to gain votes, it is a common tactic to inflate a problem or demonise a group through hyperbole employed to elicit fear.
