isn't it sad the Democrats feel they "need" Obama to be successful?

Obama was a lame duck.

He passed Obamacare but that's about it.

He pretty much put us on autopilot.

People fear Trump because he is actually going to change stuff.

Obama didn't make anything better for anyone he just kept it the same.

Presidents don't control the stock market but fine if you want to give him credit for that you also have to give him credit for the slowest growth in our history.

How do you want it?

Never said Presidents 'control' the stock market. However, their policies DO affect it. That ought to be obvious. And Mr. Obama left Donald Trump an economic expansion now going into its NINTH year, with no real sign of ending. It will shortly become the second-longest expansion in American history, and one more year would make it the longest, matching the 1991-2001 Clinton-era expansion.

Nine years of yes, slow but STEADY growth. I'll take that over the boom-and-bust economics that Republicans typically give us, ANY decade!

The slow growth began, by the way, in 2005, NOT in 2009, as you Republicans always want folks to believe. We had a rather abrupt drop-off in productivity growth beginning in 2005, two years (and a bit more) before the Great Recession started, and FOUR years before Mr. Obama took office. Clearly, your attempt to BLAME the slow growth on Obama does not pass the giggle test. To this day, we still don't know WHY productivity growth fell off like it did; economists are still trying to figure that out.

We are NOT going to get back to sustained 4% growth, though; that is just NOT in the cards, for a whole HOST of reasons. We are PROBABLY not even going to be able to get back to sustained 3% economic growth.

For the foreseeable future, annual growth rates of ~2.5% are probably the BEST that we can expect.

Even that may be optimistic. The 2020's may end up looking a lot like the 1930's, and ESPECIALLY if Donald Trump triggers a TRADE WAR, which he appears to actually WANT.

Obama's legacy is that he was not batshit crazy. The only people that questioned his legitimacy as a President did so based on race.

None of Obama's opponents ever claimed President Obama was incompetent, impetuous, immature, or did not have the mental stability to be President. It is 10 times worse when your own party does.

we don't long for Obama...we long for not crazy.
