I just wanted to let you know that one of the most enlightening folks I have found to date on television is JOEL OSTEEN. He holds his sermons on TV every Sunday from Houston, Texas, at 10:30 AM Central Time. They are only a half-hour long but well worth watching and listening to! He has a very different approach from most pastors in that he speaks directly to the heart of normal issues that most people are facing these days. Things like lack, illness, poverty, dis-ease, why things don't come to fruition, etc. and how you can make things work better in your life. It is as refreshing as it is exhilarating to listen to his talk each Sunday! I have been thoroughly impressed. He and his wife Victoria offer great things to their members and those that listen to his program. Don't expect the usual preaching though. He ties things in with Biblical teachings but in a different way that makes one want to watch more and even more. Thousands of local Houstonians attend his Sunday talk and more are joining in all of the time. He does not twist arms for donations either.

Is this the prosperity gospel guy who wouldn't open his dry church to hurricane survivors?
People need to know and understand that Lakewood Church just wasn't ready to host hundreds to thousands of people in the first place. They lacked people to serve as security folks which would have been neeeded and it would have surely been dangerous for that many people that were panicked due to the hurricane to run around in a frightened state and perhaps even resort to violence in wanting things they may not have been able to obtain such as telephones, medical supplies, etc. Pastor Osteen also reported that there was water in and surrounding the church so the area would not have been totally safe for people to inhabit and take shelter in. So no, he did not have a totally "dry church" at that time. When folks however found out that they were working around the issues of concern they brought in food and other items for the folks that went to the church anyway. Pastor Osteen welcomed them and does not close the church to anyone. He does look after their safety which has to be a top priority and under the circumstances the church would not have been totally safe. Had accidents occurred with as many people as wanted to go there it could have been devastating, something to seriously think about.

Osteen and his wife are prosperity Gospel preachers. Basically motivational speakers.

You won't get much of the true Gospel at his church unless there is a guest speaker.

Kanye coming might be the first time in years that the true Gospel gets preached.

He's basically a motivational speaker disguised as a preacher. You will feel motivated to succeed and do good, but he won't touch the fact that God is Holy and we are wretched sinners in need of a savior.

Sounds like you're pretty jealous of the good pastor. Sad to hear. You have to understand that he has a world-wide ministry and has to buy very expensive air time to broadcast nationwide and world-wide for the amount of time he does each week which in and of itself can cost millions of dollars as well as in all of the other medias that broadcast his message. That takes good money as with anything else. And of course he has bills to pay such as for his staff, expenses, supplies, printing of literature to send out, postage costs, insurance, etc. As to his living in a mansion he is not the only one who does you know. He is world-renowned and people do support his ministry and the message he imparts each week and throughout the week in his different broadcasts. I would think that he is certainly entitled to have a good home to live in in the meantime and to leave to his children after he and his wife pass-on or to use as liquidation payment for any final expenses owed which undoubtedly there would be many. God has blessed this man who has offered so much hope unto others. Let's not be angry with that.
