because, here we go again. This time it's Kamala Harris offering up a proposal to help African American's qualify for housing loans. Before that, it was reparations. Each time the arguments dance around the issue. But, the bottom line is the opposition is based on avoiding offending white voters. To be perfectly blunt about it the opposition is based straight up on racism. Not racism based on the belief that one race is either inferior or superior to another race. Racism based on the promotion of a social structure that denies African American's equal access to the American dream.A few facts:
These problems have not changed since the recession, and homeownership in America is deeply uneven. The gap between homeownership rates of white and black Americans has remained virtually unchanged for more than 100 years. According to a 2014 report from Zillow, black Americans make up only 3 percent of conventional mortgage applications, the lowest rate of any racial group, and blacks also face the highest denial rate, about 25 percent versus only 10 percent for white applicants And as recently as May of this year, instances of racist mortgage policies, such as redlining, which deny minorities access to the housing market, have come to light. In a largest redlining settlement in its history, the Department of Housing and Urban Development ordered a Wisconsin-based bank to pay $200 million after the lender refused loans to qualified black and Hispanic clients. With limited access to loans, black families are often left to rent, or opt for less favorable mortgage options, that increase the likelihood of financial hardship, especially when recessions hit.
The Recession Was Much Worse for Black Americans

This is what both Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren have proposals to address. So.... no reparations. No proposals to address African American's being refused home loans. What proposals would be acceptable then?

Well we have concentration camps up and running. The poor will have to be dealt with lest they coalesce. Same as it ever was.

This what both Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren have proposals to address. But, for some reason, the only one that's "offending" anyone is the one Kamala Harris is proposing. Go figure.
How about the democrats be for all the people not just their special interest groups. The democrats continue to show they are the racists party

what's wrong with addressing the concerns of voters based on specific demographics?

If it's ok for a politician to appeal to blacks, and hispanics, isn't it ok for a politician to appeal to whites? Blacks get free stuff, Hispanics get open borders .
What should whites get?

I can't speak for other groups, especially those I do not enjoy due to my own race.

However that quote you posted would be a damn good place to start.

And it isn't just whites that candidates have to avoid offending, it is every other minority group too.

IMO they should just do what they feel is right/correct vs optics, but I'm being idealistic and unrealistic. Unfortunately.
