you don't even have to watch that carefully. He'll do it at every rally. Trump has an uncanny ability to connect with his audience on a near symbiotic level. That my seem like a odd thing to say. But, it's pretty accurate. Just watch his facial expressions, his tone, what he says and the way he says it, and, especially, the way he reads the audience. In particular, at his last rally, watch how he introduces his news campaign slogan. He begins by talking about the old campaign slogan. The crowd goes wild. He then, pretends to be taking a poll over whether he should keep the old campaign slogan or go with the new one. "Keep America Great". Only. It's clear from the start what his preference is.

He using cheers and applause to gauge which is more popular. But, especially when he asks about the "Keep America Great" slogan, watch his expression. It's as if he's using his force of will to command the audience to respond in the manner that they do. Then, once they do, he prances about the stage, throwing his hands up, shrugging, as if to say "see, this is what they really want".

Everything about the way Trump campaigns reinforces that self/other dynamic. That's what the slogan "Make America Great Again" whispers, after all.

“Trump rallies tell you something about the relationship among the followers and a strong leader. It is an America with a sense of anger and fear, fear that what you value will be taken away," says Reicher. "People are being told that what they value as Americans is under threat from all these forces, that for America to be great, these people have to be excluded—either thrown out from the rally or a by a wall being built.

”The rhetoric of the rallies, then, both reinforces and amplifies those feelings. People feel empowered to defend the collective—like the Trump supporter who sucker-punched a protester being led out of an event. “They are not hitting the person because they have a history with the other person. What they are doing, in a perverse way, is they are acting for the group,” Reicher says. “It’s a very dangerous cocktail.”
The Psychology Behind the Violence at Trump Rallies

This may explain how Trump can keep breaking his promises but his supporters don't care. It also explains their cult-like allegiance to Trump..

I haven't forgotten that Donald Trump once asked the audience at one of his rallies to give him an Oath of Loyalty, and was asking for a 'Heil Hitler' type salute.

I have not forgotten that.

I wonder how many other people have, though.

Having a RALLY is not "Brainwashing". Feelin' good about the USA is not brainwashing. What the MEDIA does 24/7 is indeed brainwashing. Trump tells folks how great America is. The Commie Libs tell folks how racist and terrible Americans are. Which message really resonates? Praising Americans? Or bashing them? That bich Hillary sure found out.
