Two of my kids friends joined these Justice democrats. Hadnt heard much recently until now.

Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Saturday threw her weight behind a new national campaign to mount primaries against incumbent Democrats. The incoming star congresswoman from New York again put the Democratic establishment on notice that she and activist groups on the left aren’t content with a Democratic-controlled House: They are determined to move the party to the left.

"Long story short, I need you to run for office," Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday on a video conference call hosted by Justice Democrats, as the group launched a campaign dubbed “#OurTime.” Justice Democrats supported Ocasio-Cortez's primary campaign against powerful Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.).

The incoming congresswoman's chief of staff, Saikat Chakrabarti, a co-founder of Justice Democrats, was blunter. We need new leaders, period," he said on the call. "We gotta primary folks." The group said they want Democratic members of Congress to be representative of their diverse communities and support liberal policies like Medicare for all, abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement department, implementing a "Green New Deal," and rejecting corporate PAC donations.

Justice Democrats said it will prioritize women and diversity in their recruitment. All four incoming House members who were backed by Justice Democrats are women of color: Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ocasio-Cortez.

From the link:

Still, it is unusual for freshmen Democrats to throw their support behind an organization that is threatening to wage primaries against their new colleagues. And it’s unclear whether it could trigger a backlash from incumbent lawmakers who want to take advantage of their newfound majority to get things done, rather than sweating a primary challenge.

Rep Cortez has a lot to learn. Her bumptious comments are not going to help the party.

The Democrat Party is splintered between the new hardcore Socialist like Cortez and the old dinosaurs like Pelosi.

No one wants to acknowledge this split but, it will become more obvious in the near future.

One thing is for sure, however.

There will be NOTHING moderate about Democrat candidates on either side of this split.

This is just another play on words.

Like the Affordable Care Act that was anything but, affordable.

Eventually moderate democrats will realize their enemy is these alt-left socialists, not conservative republicans. Until that happens, the socialist cancer will continue to grow.

That will only work in solid blue districts, that shit will not fly with moderates and independents.
You’d think the Dems would have learned their lesson in ‘72, when they put up leftist McGovern to challenge Nixon’s re-election bid. I was young and idealistic then, and backed McGovern.

The Dems had their asses handed to them in that election, when Nixon won in a landslide, despite the Watergate scandal.

I’m still left of center, but much closer to the center now than then. What I really want is to defeat conservatives and defeat trump and his allies, who I believe are bad, bad, bad for this nation. Fielding far left candidates will not accomplish that.

oh, I don't know. The Democratic party could used a little shaking up. Cortez needs to be careful about it though. If she expects to get anywhere in Congress she's going need to good relationships with her own party. Unless, she's planning on caucusing with Republicans.
