WASHINGTON — Justice Department officials intend to interview senior C.I.A. officers as they review the Russia investigation, according to people briefed on the matter, indicating they are focused partly on the intelligence agencies’ most explosive conclusion about the 2016 election: that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia intervened to benefit Donald J. Trump.

The interview plans are the latest sign the Justice Department will take a critical look at the C.I.A.’s work on Russia’s election interference. Investigators want to talk with at least one senior counterintelligence official and a senior C.I.A. analyst, the people said. Both officials were involved in the agency’s work on understanding the Russian campaign to sabotage the election in 2016.

is this really happening ? Something is a little suspicious about the reporting. This can't be real. Barr couldn't possibly be this blatant about going after Trumps political enemies. No way. Right? If his sole purpose is targeting the agents responsible for determining Putin intervened to benefit Donald J. Trump, there's no way the CIA should cooperate. In light of what Trump said yesterday , he is now the biggest national security threat to this country. Is this really happening ?

I'm not sure how as far as details . But , given what the CIA is capable of it seems inevitable. This will turn out to be Trumps biggest mistake since firing Comey. They likely see both Barr and Trump as a national security risk. They'll give them what they want , enough to show they did nothing wrong . But, if Barr tries to spin it to go after any agents they aren't just going to let him. They 've got some legally obtained damaging information on Trump. I think Trump knows it because they can't keep it from him. And I think he believes Barr can cherry pick it the way he did the Mueller report. See. I think Barr is actually a plant after a fashion. If not that . He has to be looking for a way out from being implicated in what ever Trump knows they've got on him .

For months, Trump and his GOP allies had demanded Justice formally examine the origins of the FBI's counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign.
Barr's review will be "broad in scope and multifaceted," examining actions by US and foreign intelligence agencies, "as well as non-governmental organizations and individuals," according to a recent letter from the department to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler.
