There isn't much blatant "trying to hurt" people going on in the NHL, those guys for the most part show a lot of respect, it's difficult to believe probably for someone who isn't a fan. Imagine just not being into baseball...you wouldn't have a clue what's going on for the most part. Any sport, you either have a revelation over it or you don't.

BTW Mr. Gently, it's an outright crime that you don't have NHL 11 for PS3...how do you live?

Quite true. I guess hockey just never interested me enough to invest the time to learn about it and watch it. Enjoy your hockey.

Sparta... you hit a bruise there buddy.... you hit a bruise.

Christmas Eve 2009. I've been harping on the Mrs. for about 2 months that I want an X-box 360. I'd tried convincing her with logic, negotiation, even begging. Nothing. Finally on Christmas Eve she relents and I get in the car, get to Toys R Us before they close, and grab a 360 and Modern Warfare.

That night.

"You're not happy are you"
"Not really"
"Oh Come on"
"When you play games you ignore me. I talk to you and you don't even hear me"
"X-box has tonnes of games we can play together"
"I can't play with those remotes. And X-Box only has fighing and shooting games"
"We can find something"
"If we got a Wii we could play together"

.... I now have a Nintendo Wii that we have played about 6 times, and I have spent over a hundred hours searching for a game on it that would even be tollerable. I do NOT have an X-Box. I returned it Dec 26th.

There is nothing on Wii for adults. Nothing. The few games they did try for my demographic (Call of Duty, tennis, boxing, 007) are just nothin but suck. Suck suck suck.

I'm an unemployed cop on EI until I get in with a Muni force. We live in a condo. I am not going to win the discussion to have both systems.

Merry Fucking Christmas.

It's almost impossible to convert an adult to a new sport....but there is so much more to it, Hollywood, if you can get over the fact that 60% of the league is Canadian, 20 Swedish, 10 former Soviet and the other 10 from border states...

The worst part in the states is that outside of the major hockey markets the quality of the televised games is horrible. They look like they use 1970's porn film equipment to film it, the cameramen can't follow the play and the announcers sound like they won a free contest "buy 3 cases of diet coke and you can win the chance to call play by play at the Hurricanes game".

There was a movie that said that baseball was all about the potential. To think about what could happen, what is possible to happen if this and this and this happen. You've got a guy on third and you know the pitcher is just divorced and up comes old just-out-of-rehab Smith to the plate. Will Smith redeem himself? Does Sanchez have one more good throw in him? Gonzolez is not a base stealer but if he could just sneak in this once... it COULD happen. And as they eye each other the tension just builds and builds.

Hockey is about passion. Guts will always beat talent and pack mentality will always beat individual skill. They dig so far deep down inside during the playoffs there is nothing left but sheer will.

I think a regular season NFL or NBA game would be more fun to watch than an NHL game. But in the playoffs there is no comparison. You simply can't compare it. Even Mixed martial arts guys don't go through what hockey players do to get a championship. When hockey series' end I feel exhausted from watching.

That's a bummer G, a real bummer. I have a PS3, what do those cost, $600? Then I bought an extra controller for $30. Then I bought NHL 11 for $60. Then it became obvious to me I needed a headset for $50, you don't make that kind of investment without a "protection plan" for $5. So I have $745 invested in a hockey game, and they fucked up by not charging me more. My wife can leave if she wants, I make all the money anyway, if she did, I'd prefer she took the kids so I can get more ice time, seriously, I don't even want the kids on weekends. It's not that I don't love them, I just don't love them as much as NHL 11.
