GTA V is the most profitable entertainment product of all time

$6B revenue on a game which cost quarter billion dollars to make is impressive. But I'm not a fan of the companies involved nor do I like thug simulators games such as GTA (I've played a total of maybe 5min of GTA years ago). This youtuber speaks of what this company is like..

I'm glad nearly all of the computer games I play nowadays are from small independent developers.

US and European gambling regulators may crack down on loot boxes

Gambling regulators from Europe and the US are turning up the heat on game developers over loot boxes, which some jurisdictions claim violate gambling laws. A group of 15 European agencies and the Washington State Gambling Commission agreed to work together to "address the risks created by the blurring of lines between gaming and gambling."

"Tackling unlicensed third-party websites offering illegal gambling linked to popular video games is a priority," the UK's Gambling Commission said; the agencies have urged the games industry and technology platforms to help stamp out such sites. The regulators also said developers need to make sure loot boxes aren't considered gambling under local laws.
..snip..

Good. If these greedy gaming corporations needs to be taken to court then so be it.

Actually World of Warcraft is the industry leader at 10 billion.

And its still going strong.

It will still be here for many more years yet to come, they are still releasing expansions for it and have millions of subscribers all paying a monthly fee to play.

I've personally spent thousands on the game.

Weirdo
Keep in mind, this 'greatest of all time' is speaking of a single titled product. Not a game with multiple expansions (WOW), all/any porn, or titled series of games or media.

And Red Dead Redemption 2 just dropped today...

Same company as GTA. Rockstar.

GTA has had plenty of expansions, what are you talking about?

lol

They've had more than WOW actually.

And if you take vanilla WOW and Vanilla GTA 5, WOW still surpasses it easily.

Because remember that WOW charges a monthly fee, GTA does not.

Hell, I think even Skyrim beats GTA.

link re WoW revenue?

Speaking of which; I've never played WoW. Last mmorpg I played was back in the 90s when it was called MUD.. Gemstone I think it was called and it was mostly text based with some pictures.
