Conservative makes stunning case why no Republican should vote for ‘unstable’ Trump in 2020

Following up on an editorial he wrote for USA Today, conservative Naval War College professor Tom Nichols laid out a compelling case on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” why no self-respecting Republican should pull the lever for Donald Trump in the 2020 election.
In his column, Nichols, wrote, “I don’t care if Sen. Elizabeth Warren is a mendacious Massachusetts liberal. She could tell me that she’s going to make me wear waffles as underpants and I’ll vote for her. I don’t care if Sen. Kamala Harris is an opportunistic California prosecutor who wants to relitigate busing. She could tell me that I have to drive to work in a go-cart covered with Barbie decals and I’ll vote for her. I don’t care if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is a muddle-headed socialist from a rural class-warfare state (where I once lived as one of his constituents). He could tell me he’s going to tax used kitty litter and I’ll vote for him.”
Using that as a springboard, Nichols explained on MSNBC on Friday morning why Donald Trump has failed as a president and is likely a danger to the country.
“I’ve had it with the what-aboutism arguments that were mostly coming from the right,” he said of fellow conservatives. “I’m one of the people that has basically said — I do think the president has gotten worse.”
“I mean to some extent, all kidding aside, I’m kind of concerned about the president,” he continued. “Because he seems like he has become, you know, that this is getting to him in some ways and he’s becoming unstable.”...

I'm sort of confused about the number of posts suffering from the bad logic of the endorsement fallacy.

Now if this professor had a compelling study, or some good numbers or could show some rationale reasons to vote for a person I'd give them the time of day but hyperbole and claims of mental instability aren't a sound argument.

If there is anyone showing signs of cognitive decline it might be him.

Out of everyone I've researched on the Democratic side Tulsi Gabbard isn't someone I could pull the lever for but certain someone I could tolerate as president. Her more isolationist foreign policy, desire to make services accountable and some small bit of sanity (only small mind you) when it comes to social services make her the best of a bad lot so far.

The Democratic candidates are coming across so badly that they make Trump look like the sane adult in the room and I really don't think some of you realize how hard that is to do and thus how bad the candidates must be doing.

Biden is beyond done. Harris has suffered a pretty strong kill-shot to her campaign from Gabbard. Warren and Sanders appear to at least have the energy and mental acumen to campaign on a level that could match Trump.

Why do you think Tillerson and all the others quit Trump. He truly is an effing moron. Smart men know that. Why don't you?

Tom Nichols is one of those tools who let Trump chase him away from being a conservative. Wherever Trump is on an issue, they make sure to be on the other side of it. I wouldn't mind it if the likes of him or Max Boot or Jennifer Rubin would just admit that they're liberals now.

I imagine you classify ALL Never-Trumpers as 'liberals'.

Or can you cite a Never-Trumper that you still consider a 'conservative'?

Yeah I tend to agree. Most of these whack jobs are just projecting their own mental illnesses onto the President anyway because they're the one's actually suffering from Trump Derangement. They actually end up making Trump look well-mannered by comparison.

Wait, what?!? You're calling YOURSELF a 'Never-Trumper'?!??

Why do you invest so much of your life energy into defending him, then?!?

You've been told but appear to have forgotten that I voted for Gary Johnson in 2016. In the discussion on California and Trump tax records I specifically cited political parties making it harder to get on the ballot as a big problem. Now that said I even mentioned Democrats I have looked at in this very thread and mentioned how the Democratic Party, who can't appear to offer a sound alternative is likely to inflict Trump on us again.

BTW keep pushing for narrowing the choices of the general election voter and don't be shocked when you get more Trumps. When you make it so hard to be a candidate only special, narrow and extreme interests care enough to do all that work to qualify for the ballot in all 50 states.

Smart person who gets it. If you aren't a fan of a Pussy Grabber who can't connect two sentences and is too old, then you don't nominate a handsy, gaffe machine who wants to challenge him to a push up contest or will challenge him to a fight behind the woodshed in an attempt to restore honor to the presidency.

You don't say that Clinton lost because she ignored the Rust Belt and unions and then run a bunch of candidate who want open borders and free everything. That doesn't make it easier for Union members or Rust Belt state folks or working class people to come back to the Democratic Party.
