Republican candidate Arthur Jones, a Holocaust denier who has been disavowed by his own party, will be the GOP's nominee in a suburban Chicago congressional district after he ran in Tuesday's primary unopposed.

Jones's campaign website contains a section called "The Holocaust Racket" in which he argues that there is "no proof such a so-called 'Holocaust' ever took place anywhere in Europe against the Jews" and that Jews are "directly responsible for the murder of at least 300 million people."

Jones in February told the Chicago Sun-Times that he's a former leader of the American Nazi Party. He's long been a stain on the Illinois Republican Party, which has successfully blocked his previous congressional bids. The state Republican Party has disavowed his candidacy, with the state party chairman calling him a Nazi. Democrats have similarly blasted Jones and his views.

Yet because the GOP decided against running any candidate in the heavily Democratic district, and Jones successfully met the criteria to make the ballot, he will be the party's nominee.

Deplorable, don't forget to wear the shirts. Once upon a time the Republican had some integrity and wouldn't let these people run, but ever since Trump won, anybody is allowed to run under the R label.

In the mid-1990s, appellate courts sided with the Georgia Republican Party, which blocked Duke from appearing on the state ballot as a Republican candidate for president in the 1992 election. But 24 years later, just one day after then-candidate Trump secured the Republican nomination, Duke announced his candidacy for the US Senate in Louisiana. Despite his hate speech and felony record, the state party made no effort to formally disassociate from him. In fact, they invited him to participate in a primary debate at a historically black college and prevented students from attending because of fears that protests could grow violent.

For his campaign slogan, perhaps he should adopt the Charlottesville chant: Jews will not replace us!!

Meh... Democrats nearly had a Communist/Socialist for their Presidential Candidate.

This guy has no chance, but modern Democrats seem to really be going to Socialists/Communists.

^^Desperation^^

You're using the fact that Dems rejected a guy you call a communist as evidence that they're going to communists. Funny.

Of course, to right wing extremists like you, everyone looks like a communist.

Are you seriously trying to say that Bernie Sanders (is a Socialist but he is not a Communist) is equal to a Holocaust denier?

You really should learn the difference between what a socialist is and what a communist is. Socialism is commonly regarded as an economic system that seeks to achieve equality among members of society. Communism, on the other hand, is both an economic system that seeks equality among members of society and a political ideology that advocates a classless and stateless society and rejects religion. It is regarded as a more extreme form of socialism.

Yeah I'm not sure if it's legal for a party to ban someone from running under their name, and Jones was the only candidate running.

No clue as to why they didn't put someone else in the race...
