Kisa Snider, a mother of four, had been serving 8 years for possession of 2 marijuana cigarettes. Really?
Almost 500 inmates released today with more to come. This was a bipartisan effort. Good on them.

Hundreds of Oklahoma inmates being released Monday in largest commutation in U.S. history
The state has the highest incarceration rate in the country. But the governor wants to lose that ranking.

I love this on two levels. One, it's just good news. Two, Trump was tweeting about how bad it was that NY was releasing prisoners. Wah-wah-wah...

States could save a bunch of money by reviewing crimes and sentences. And releasing the low risk non violent offenders.
Yes they could.
But our country has a "lock em up" culture unlike anywhere else in the world. Ships that size don't change directions easily.

Kudos to OK's governor and new parole board chief for undoing some huge injustices.

Knowing the State of Oklahoma these people released will have zero social safety net support and be thrown on the street to become homeless dregs unless they have family to take them in.
