Democratic congressional leaders said Tuesday they reached an agreement with President Trump to seek a deal on a $2 trillion infrastructure bill, a surprising development that comes amid intense partisan warfare in Washington.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) sounded a decidedly positive note after leaving a White House meeting shortly after noon, with Schumer saying “there was goodwill” on both sides toward developing a major piece of legislation.

“That was different than some of the other meetings that we’ve had,” Schumer told reporters on the North Lawn driveway. “This was a very, very good start. … We hope it will go to a constructive conclusion.” Pelosi said both sides had “come to one agreement: that the agreement would be big and bold.”

Few in Washington believe that a landmark piece of legislation will move through Congress this year with the 2020 presidential election kicking into high gear. Ten lawmakers are currently in the Democratic presidential field, which could deter the party from wanting to give Trump a legislative victory that could boost his political standing.

But Pelosi said she had to live up to her commitment to seek bipartisan agreements that could benefit Americans.

My prediction: Trump will find a way to fuck this up.

Hide & watch.
Doubtful, it was one of his big campaign promises.

After his last bill failed I'm sure he will be more accommodating to the democrats.

If they are spending 2 trillion there should be plenty of goodies for them.

This should be an easy bipartisan bill, nobody is really against it and they know it needs to be done.

I didn't think it was going to be that much though.

Unsure at this point but it looks like gas taxes and taking away tax cuts.

Republicans should block any Trump-Schumer-Pelosi $2 trillion infrastructure plan

Republicans should make it plain to President Trump that they will vociferously oppose any attempt to strike a $2 trillion infrastructure deal with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

At a time when the federal debt is $22 trillion, Republicans have already joined Trump by agreeing to cut taxes, increase military spending, blow past spending limits created during the Tea Party era, and to ignore entitlement spending. It would be a dereliction of duty to then go along with him on another massive spending binge.

Have to wait for the bill to find out.

Them agreeing to work on it is a huge first step.

And I can see why the democrats are eager. It's a bill they can get behind and they also need a legislative victory before the election to offset all their hate Trump stuff while getting nothing done. Pelosi knows that many of the democrats are going to get tossed in 2020 unless they have something to run on other than the fact they hated Trump.

Doesn't matter, it needs to be done.

It's either that or watch America crumble.

I would not be surprised if they turn a lot of it over to private industry though.

Sure it needs to be done but we have a dumbshit who wants to spend 100 billion on a fucking wall that accomplishes nothing.
