Missouri police say a man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly showed up to a local Walmart with a loaded rifle and a bulletproof vest.

Police in Springfield, Mo., said nobody was harmed and no shots were fired. The suspect, a white man in his 20s, was detained by an off-duty firefighter until officers arrived on the scene, authorities said.

The man allegedly showed up with a “tactical rifle” and bulletproof vest, the Springfield News-Leader reported.

Springfield Police Lt. Mike Lucas told the outlet that the man, wearing body armor and military-style clothing, was taking videos on his phone and making comments to people while pushing a shopping cart.

Lucas said the suspect then left the store, where the off-duty firefighter held him at gunpoint until police arrived shortly after.

“His intent obviously was to cause chaos here, and he did that,” he said.

Lucas said the suspect had more than 100 rounds of ammo, adding that police are still working to determine his motives, including whether he intended to shoot anyone.

“His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business here,” Lucas said. “In fact, he’s lucky he’s alive still, to be honest.”Police arrest armed man at Missouri Walmart
This is how shootings will be stopped. An off duty firefighter with a gun stopped this. Will we hear much about this? I doubt it, the Liberal press is pushing the narrative that guns are the problem and should be taken from all citizens

Making a terrorist threat.

He STOPPED nothing. The armed man DID nothing other that what is described and was LEAVING the store when the fireman confronted him.

Sure sounds like an El Paso copycat who lost his nerve at the last moment, and thank God that he did. As others have pointed out, the off duty trained first responder who "stopped" him actually detained him after the period where he could've done serious damage had passed.
