Quite distasteful.

Progressive activists interrupted a ceremony in a San Francisco hotel where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was being honored Wednesday evening and demanded that she spearhead impeachment proceedings to remove President Trump from the White House.

They stood on dining chairs, unfurled black tapestries with the phrase, “We can’t wait” and chanted “Which side are you on, Pelosi? Impeach!” inside the grand ballroom of the InterContinental San Francisco hotel where the San Francisco Democratic Party was honoring Pelosi with a lifetime achievement award.

"Speaker Pelosi, I am undocumented. My community is being targeted by ICE and killed by white supremacists. Fight for my community and impeach Trump now," said Credo Action campaign manager Thaís Marques. "We can't wait. Impeach Trump."

In an email to supporters late Wednesday, Credo Action said many Democrats in attendance "shouted Marques down while Speaker Pelosi herself talked over Marques rather than listening to and engaging with her."

The activists were eventually removed from the event by San Francisco police.

Rude infringement on somebody's party. Never been a fan.

Don't think this qualifies as civil disobedience. Sort of doubt it is fully covered by the first amendment.

When folks like this want to act up, there should at least be some legitimate consequences. Not $50 fines. Would be good with a couple of weeks in jail...or a couple thousand dollar fine. Then we may see how truly dedicated they are to their causes.

Agree its very uncivilized. They could protest outside or something else. But this civil discourse just makes people mad and they will side with Pelosi even more. They lose whatever standing they had.
