Minnesota deputy arrested after being caught on camera beating up his K-9 | Daily Mail Online

A sheriff's deputy is facing criminal charges after he was captured on surveillance camera allegedly beating his K-9 unit.

Brett Arthur Berry from Ramsey County Sheriff’s officer was at Black Bear Casino in Carlton, Minnesota, for a training event when he was seen picking the helpless animal up by his neck before throwing him to the ground.

Then, as the helpless animal scampered back inside, the 48-year old seems to hit the canine unit called Boone after it got stuck in sliding doors.

May they throw the entire Encyclopedia Britannica at his sorry ass.

Prick.

And oh: Pictures may trigger.

In a statement Friday, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said that when it learned of the incident, it “took quick, decisive action.” Berry was sent home from the trials and placed on administrative leave. His K-9 partner was evaluated by a veterinarian and no injuries were found. The dog, which lives with Berry, is being cared for by others.

“The Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office takes our responsibilities, and professionalism very seriously,” the statement read. “Carlton County is investigating the incident and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is cooperating fully with the investigation. We hold our staff to the highest standards and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office is troubled by these allegations.”

Berry was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts: one for assaulting a public safety dog and one for animal cruelty.
If convicted, Berry faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine for each charge.

And $2000. Big freakin whoop.

I think part of what pisses me off the most is that GS are allegedly aggressive. I wish the dog had attacked, but no. And that just made it harder to see what happened, really.

Awfully nice of the Strib not to show up all the images that the UK paper did. It's true: A picture is worth a thousand words.
