one problem though..

Russia uses video game pictures to claim US helped Isil

The Russian defence ministry attempted to pass off an image from a video game as “irrefutable evidence” that the US was cooperating with Isil in Syria.

The ministry claimed in a Facebook post and tweet on Tuesday that the picture showed an “Isis automobile convoy” fleeing Abu Kamal, Syria, under US protection on November 9.

In fact, it was taken from a 2015 promotional video showing AC-130 Gunship Simulator: Special Ops Squadron, a mobile game in which players fire at ground targets from a US warplane.

The discovery was made by Eliot Higgins, founder of the investigative website Bellingcat, who noticed a large red “fire” button in the corner had been cropped out of the picture.

Russians keep pushing their fake news...

Another image purporting to show the same convoy in Syria was actually taken from a 2016 video published by Iraq's defence ministry, which said it was an Islamic State convoy fleeing Fallujah, Iraq, Conflict Intelligence Team investigators found.

But Russian state media were already republishing the fake pictures and reporting the claims as fact.

“The international coalition headed by the United States supports Isis terrorists and cooperates with them. This is confirmed by photographs taken by Russian drones on 9 November during the operation to liberate the city of Abu Kamal,” said a news announcer on Russia-24 as the two debunked images were shown.

There have been soke troubles with retaking Abukamal. ISIS putting up strong resistance in the town. Until now, it was an operation led by the Iranians and their proxy militias, Syrian and Iraqi and Hezbollah. The Russians, including air force, were no involved. And, again, the Iranians did rather poorly, even got pushed back out of the town by ISIS at one point.

Now, the Russians got called back in to finish the job for the poor fuckers, as always, bombers striking the area today

Probably Russian troops and Wagner mercenaries helping on the ground now too.

But, they cannot just say to Iran "Your militias suck. Your fighters are shit." lol They are still an ally, you know.

So, have to find a way to blame this on someone else. Mutual enemy America, of course :D

True. But unfortunately a lot of people actually believe the propaganda without looking further into it.
