hite House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders has suggested an interview between national security adviser John Bolton and CNN was canceled because of the network’s “bad behavior” at a UK press conference.

Huckabee Sanders claimed that a CNN reporter “disrespected” President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday, after CNN’s Jake Tapper said the White House had canceled the Bolton interview after the president verbally attacked a CNN reporter.

we're firmly in "Totalitarian" territory here folks. What gets me is how the other news outlets are just sitting on their hands and allowing this to happen.

Boycott the press briefings and/or Sara Sanders just for one day as a show of solidarity. Since the America press is in Europe maybe get a few of them to go along with it.

If Trump is abusive to one reporter then the next reporter should ask the same question the last one did. Or , even better, ask him why he won't answer the question the last reporter asked.

If Trump cancels an interview to punish one network the others should cancel all the interviews with any of his surrogates on that same day.

They're the free press for the love of God. If they're too afraid of losing ratings to stand up for their profession then they should at least stand up for that. The sad and pathetic thing about it is by being such cowardly tools they're the ones causing their viewer to tune them out ( and turn them off).

Leaving less reputable networks , like Fox News, to fill in the gap. A network that, for all practical purposes, is state run media.

Like I said , we're already there.

I've had it with the WHCA. They are all well aware that it is their solemn duty, when Sanders or Trump shut down an uncomfortable question out of hand, to follow up and ask her again.

That is what happened during Watergate, that is the long tradition of the presidential press corps. That is why the job of press secretary has always been thought of as a hot seat.

In the aftermath of "third rate burglary," IT IS THEIR JOB to back each other up and not tolerate bullshit statements and evasions, never mind hard rejections. That is why the WHCA exists in the modern world.

And yet, because Sanders is a prolific leaker who also routinely arranges access interviews, this keeps happening. A hot-button question is asked, Sanders/Trump will shut it down, and *crickets*.

People like Jay Carney, if determined to avoid answering a question, once had to battle with chains of reporters for 10 minutes or more. They used to make funny tallies about his repeated evasions. Josh Earnest was better at it.

These clowns let Sanders off the hook at the soonest possible moment. They're like a bunch of Renaissance men rushing over to a puddle to bridge it with their capes for the Queen.

The media does not have the authority to demand answers. When Trump says no they need to move on

Of course they do. It is their First Amendment right to ask questions and follow up. If Sanders doesn't want to answer questions, she should not hold briefings.

As things stand, she is holding fake briefings where she pretends to answer questions and spar with reporters for Trump's gratification, and the WHCA lets her get away with it.

Because "decorum" ... and access.

They can ask all they want. Trump shows why they are the fake news people by the lies they print. They can ask does not mean they will get an answer. Myself I would not even allow them in presence
