Sec. of State Clinton on Egypt.....

#1
Sec. of State Clinton was interviewed by Candy Crowley On State of the Union-CNN.....the Ambassador for Egypt warned Clinton not to speak to harsh on human rights publicly. That such makes Mubarak seethe with anger..... Clinton was asked who does the US Stand with Mubarak or the people rioting. Clinton stated there was a 3rd Choice. That we stand with the people of Egypt.....????? Aren't the Egyptian people rioting?

Then Clinton proceed to state it is up to the Egyptian People to decide. She then stated that an Election has been scheduled and that those protesting, activists and oppositon political parties should start a dialogue about bringing the country back together.
Asked about our past relations and how important is Egypt.....Clinton reminded Crowley that Egypt was one of two Arab Countries that are in relations with Israel. That Mubarak led the way against terrorists. Influences other Arab Nations. But has not provided the economic /social reform that is present with democracy.

Asked what would happen if a government that was not opposing us but that did not favor us and how would that affect us. Are these the type of questions to be asking? How would it affect us if there is a government that is not favorable to us......duh it's major problem.

The opposition leader that has returned is a former Nobel prize winner and now he has come out and stated that Mubarak must leave Egypt in 3 days.....he also gave an interview with Fareed Zakaharis in which he layed out a plan as to what to do.....According to the Egyptian people they view him as a International Bureaucrat and not as a politican. His interview will be coming up in the next hour. Still Clinton knew this and did not say anything.....other than that the elections need to be fair and that if it did involve members of the Muslim Brotherhood such is how it should be and all being represented. Yet she knows they are on the terrorist hot-list..... and she knows Mubarak has held an Authoritarian Regime under the false pretenses of Democracy. Thoughts?

I just learned about this Muslim brotherhoods base. It does not look good and it might be that they (clinton et al) are making decisions on the run.

It does appear that this is out of control. I have no idea what the repercussions or political meaning of this are beyond the upset people in Egypt.

The political ramifications are that the US will have a harder time in dealing with Arab States.....will have a harder time in dealing with all in the M.E.
