Thread. Much more insightful and comprehensive than the OP article.

3/ QUOTE #1: "[Burr] acknowledges now that the investigation is broader, and perhaps more consequential, than it has long been thought to be." So America doesn't realize how much troubling material the Senate has found—or how far-flung and important to our future the material is.

6/ QUOTE #3 (CBS): "The [probe] isn't compiling the story of one pivotal election, but of something larger, more complicated and—from a counterintelligence perspective—more nefarious. The final report may be so highly classified that a meaningful portion may not be made public."

Senator Burr:
“If we write a report based upon the facts that we have, then we don’t have anything that would suggest there was collusion by the Trump campaign and Russia,” North Carolina Sen. Richard Burr

--------------------

Humm....."Based upon the facts THEY HAVE" - he sure left the door open to state..."we didn't have that information", which his statement allows the committee to play dumb when the fact can't be denied.

But he also admitted, the committee had no responsible to find a crime.

-------------------------------------
Nov 30, 2018

Burr said...

“I don’t want the committee to get mixed up with Bob Mueller’s special prosecutor investigation."

We (the Senate Intelligence committee) have no responsibility to find criminal behavior.

"
If we identify a crime in our investigation that has been committed, we refer it to the special prosecutor,” i.e.Robert S. Mueller III.

=======================

Burr stated - the committee has no responsiblity to help Mueller.

So, why is the Trump Cult looking at Burr's Feb 2019 statement as proof that Trump is not guilty?

Well we know that’s flat out not true.

We know for a fact AT LEAST two members of the Trump campaign colluded or attempted to collude with Russia.

Manafort, the chairman of the Trump campaign, was passing internal polling data to the Russians. There is no other word for that except collusion.

Trump Jr., not to mention the others involved, agreed to meet what the believed was a Russian government attorney with dirt on Hillary Clinton as part of Russia’s attempts to help get DJT elected. How is that anything other than collusion?

Not to mention Roger Stone and his Wikileaks shenanigans. Or Flynn and the sanction phone calls.

And that’s likely just the very very tip of the iceberg.

Maybe he could say they have no concrete evidence showing Trump himself colluded with Russia, but it is an absolute fact at this point that several members of his team did.

So tell us how you know this. At this very moment we know nothing of the sort. But please continue on. BTW there has not been one indictment in regard to collusion. So keep living in your fantasy world.

Interesting....Burr didn't say anything about Obstruction of Justice though.

The Trump fans here know he's under investigation for that too right? And for being an agent for Russia as well.

And then you have all those SDNY cases going on.....with Cohen, Manafort, Stone

The AG there might come to a different conclusion on "collusion".

Oh gee, obstruction of justice to fire lying James Comey. You just proved my point made to bboop. Lingering and hopful does not make a case.

Burr is not one to talk unlike Schiffty...which tells me they absolutely found no collusion
So, BEFORE his "investigation" is complete, he comes out with a statement of support for the POTUS, but unlike "shifty" he doesn't talk. Fucking brilliant!
