I am all for Congress declaring war and NOT the POTUS. But, Obama is not proposing war. He's suggesting that we make it clear that chemical weapons are against the law. Limited, no boots on the ground. I would like to know what the targets are and that we know for certain that Assad is the one who used chemical weapons. Remember, we know for certain that chemical weapons were used. We also know that Syria has had possession of them for a long time.

Suggesting it was AQ - the proxy of the US government - (or is it the Muslim Brootherhood that is a current US ally ? :think: ) I'm confused, lol, is silly.

Actually, that idea is:

Very, very unlikely.
Exactly, that's not happening. But, they have an interest in Syria not using chemical weapons. This cannot become a common occurrence if people rise up trying to establish democracy.

The even more pragmatic way to look at this is to note that not one single peep has come out of Saudi Arabia, the most powerful player in all of the Arab League.

Sweden -> Russia.

Hm. This is horrible stuff. So, the Prez snubs Putin over the Snowden affair, rubs it in his face a little with gay rights, and now he's actually getting on a plate to go see Putin!

That's not good. What kind of a signal does that send to the international community? Yikes. :f_yikes:

Putin is coming out smelling like a rose on this one. Jeez... :f_doh:

This guy Obama, he means well, but... wow... :smiley-shrug:

Putin has maneuvered him into a position where it's beneficial to visit Russia so they can talk face to face.

This makes our entire state department and national security apparatus look very, very superficial. We spend billions on that stuff, and this is what we get? Today it's beneficial and a week ago it wasn't, right?

The signal here is unmistakable - the United States is being brought to heel.

Putin thinks Obama is a clown.

Obama better convince him otherwise.

And air strikes aren't gonna cut it, in that regard.
