New York and California should simply raise taxes on the residents of their respective states and make those payments to the insurance companies to help with health care of citizens in their respective states. It isn't legal for Trump to make them without Congressional funding.

"President Trump's abrupt move to cut these subsidies is reckless, dangerous -- and illegal," New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said in a statement. "These payments are vital to thousands of New Yorkers and millions of Americans who rely on them to afford their health care. Yet President Trump is using those families as political pawns, putting their lives at risk to advance his own partisan agenda."
"This is no longer about a campaign promise or a punchline, said California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, who is part of the coalition. The Trump administration "is taking active steps to sabotage the Affordable Care Act."

There is no law requiring Trump to end making the subsidies payments.

You could make an argument that Trump is not required to keep making the payments...but there is nothing unlawful in making the payments.

False. A federal court ruled that because Congress never appropriated the funding the Obama Administration was violating the separation of powers clause.

This reveals another Obamacare lie. Expanding the insurance pool with young healthy people was supposed to magically make costs go down. Instead they were just paying off the insurance companies. Another failure.

And what's the matter with Congress not pulling towards making those payments materialize? Oh, of course, they simply don't care to help the Middle Class and the Poor in this country so that's their main but very weak excuse that all voters should become very well aware of if they aren't already.

What's the matter with California and New York not collecting taxes to make those payments materialize for their citizens? Do Democrats in California and New York not care to help the Middle Class and the Poor in their states? so that's their main but very weak excuse that all voters in New York and California should become very well aware of if they aren't already.

There is no law preventing New York and California from collecting taxes to make those subsidy payments.

Why are you singling out only CA and NY?

Democratic attorneys general from the 18 states as well as Washington, D.C., filed a lawsuit in federal court in California later on Friday. The states include: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina,[Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia and Washington state.

The new lawsuit would be separate from a case pending before an appeals court in the District of Columbia in which 16 Democratic state attorneys general are defending the legality of the payments.

If the subsidies vanish, low-income Americans who obtain insurance through Obamacare online marketplaces where insurers can sell policies would face higher insurance premiums and out-of-pocket medical costs. It would particularly hurt lower-middle-class families whose incomes are still too high to qualify for certain government assistance.

Notice Kentucky on that list? That state is one of the biggest success stories of the ACA. Ironic that's it own senator want's to destroy a program that has benefited so much of his state.

I guess maybe just tell them to raise their taxes too?
