Sure! Let's Have Guns At Schools!

So how are the kids getting the guns into the schools? Did you read any of the google links I posted about guns being found in student's cars on high school campus?
Whether or not kids are stealing guns from irresponsible parents is another issue.

My point was there is no conservative/Republican that is actually advocating that students be allowed to bring guns to school.

You would think it would be common sense to legislate so-called responsible gun owner parents to keep their guns locked up and away from kids.
Because kids have never been able to get in to locked things and get ahold of them? So tell me. How do you intend to enforce said law? Mandatory home inspection right? Who owns the guns? Oh? Registration? Ok. And we don’t need to worry about confiscation right? Nobody is coming for our guns, unless they are performing mandatory safety inspections and find me in violation because they saw I had epilepsy medication on my nightstand in my home that has no children and my guns were actually in a safe.

Yea. Fuck the government. Piss on giving any more authority to the law for unreasonable search and seizure. “Kids” aren’t the ones going out and committing the shootings. It is, as usual, some fucked up squirrel mutilating wacko who showed signs that nobody took notice of until after he murdered his parents and stole the guns from the gun safe.

If you want to address the issue of mass shootings, address the reality that it is a person committing the act. And our understanding and prevention is dog shit. Because let’s be frank. If someone thinks going out and hosing down the local elementary school with rifle rounds is acceptable? They don’t belong in free society and “gun control” isn’t going to stop them from murdering hookers with a hatchet. I’m not entirely convinced these fucked up wackos aren’t the same losers as the serial killers that used to be popular.

Dumbest idea in the world. Let's keep guns out of kids hands and put their parents in jail for life. Better yet, hang them!

A 17-year-old student shot and killed herself at Lake Mary High School this morning

A 17-year-old junior student shot and killed herself with a handgun Wednesday morning at Lake Mary High School, deputies say.

Seminole Sheriff Dennis Lemma says the 11th grader asked her teacher for permission to go to the bathroom just as first period was ending, around 7:48 a.m. About 5 to 10 minutes later, students and teachers in the area heard a single gunshot.
But suicide is illegal? How could she do that?

This was a failure of parents and the school to address her problems. As well as her. Suicide is a sad thing. She was obviously struggling. So why did nobody notice? What was going on?

All which has NOTHING to do with what advocates who say they want “guns in schools” happen to mean.

Have you acknowledged that and have moved on to simply opposing gun crimes in schools?
There we’ll likely have agreement.

This girl, like many people young and old, needed help. Would a gun prevention bill - or hanging parents.... - have prevented this act? Perhaps. But that's just an argument for the internet. It makes no actual difference now because she is gone. I do not want to shift focus from this person - because she was young, needed help and either her environment was unequipped to deal with it or unwilling. Both are way too common.

Likely if she wanted to end her life she would have sought the 2nd most commonly used solution, statistically - a firearm - which represents 32% of all female suicides, just under poisoning at 37%.

But what if she wanted or needed help? What solutions are available to her? Very few. A person who is considering suicide is in a diminished capacity however they are left to their own devices to both seek and obtain help for their issue. The cards are stacked against a person who considers suicide.

There is empirical evidence that would suggest the availability of a firearm does increase the risk of suicide. Such as, states and countries that have gun ownership see a higher suicide rate than those without. However there is also evidence that people who have considered suicide without a gun present, wished they had a gun - because of the finality of the gun and the presumed painlessness of the action.

For instance, if you look up the most painless way to commit suicide, the most logical guess is the immediate finality and lethality of a bullet. That's a fact we just cannot check, however.

If the sole purpose of using this girl's very sad death as means to argue gun control - well I guess I can't blame anyone for that. She is a perfect model for the gun/suicide/risk link but its fucking petty and apathetic to people who suffer depression.

If you have issues understanding my point, it is this: if she had the help she needed, she wouldn't have turned to suicide and then sought a gun.

Preventable, entirely.
Very true. Suicide often is. Especially for the young.

A person reaches a level of low and hopelessness. Then they feel like they can’t cope or they have no options. Then they feel shame for getting there. Then they feel shame for not being able to tell people. Then shame for feeling suicidal. Then shame for not doing it. It is truly sad. Especially when the big thing they need to hear is they don’t need to feel ashamed.
