I didn't not acknowledge it. I said it strange let someone watch someone behave offensively and think hey that's my guy.

Trump is President because of those who voted for him. Period. That's kind of how elections work.
Some of his fans seem to love the way he talks and behaves.

And he WAS perceived as the "anti-politician" and not politically correct.

And that's a big part of why he won.

You are right that he won "because of those who voted for him".

And, I'm right that a lot of people voted for him because of his massive exposure on TV "news" shows.

Like Morning Joe.

why vote for someone who's behaving the way Trump was? It wasn't just "anti-politician". It was childish and irresponsible.

It's an individual decision.

It may not make sense, but that's the way the rules are written.

I know one lady who's a one issue voter: abortion.

I know another who puts some of her consideration on which nominee "looks more presidential".

Then there were those who voted for Obama just because he was black.

And those that voted against him just because he was black.

And all of that criteria is legal, even though it's not right.

No law says they have to cover him everywhere and he has his own network (Fox) anyway.
He's deliberately staying in the limelight now and I doubt he's improving any network's ratings anymore. (I see him live and change channels immediately)

I wouldn't even cover the WH briefings live anymore. (just recap the lies later)
I believe the main reason they do continue the extensive coverage of him is that he still generate huge ratings and as most media outlets are in business to make money, ratings means money and in the main stream media business that is primary; all else is secondary.

the fact that it's an individual choice doesn't change the fact that it's still childish and irresponsible.

people aren't watching because they feel they can't trust our media. It's true that the Trump presidential campaign pulled their ratings out of the toilet. But, that's not necessarily a good thing in the grand scheme - not for them, anyway . Especially, given they pretty much had to admit that a lot of them got predictions of a Trump upset wrong. For viewers it's all good because we have to be more critical about the coverage. We couldn't ever just take them at their word. But now, it's to the point where we've got to watch them like they're toddlers. If we aren't careful they'll have us believing all kinds of things that aren't really true. Or, they'll have influenced opinions in favor of their own narrative, rather than objective reality.

You can characterize it any way you want.

Some voters are undoubtedly childish and irresponsible.

That doesn't mean they are ineligible to vote.

Maybe it SHOULD, but who would decide who is "childish and irresponsible".

Some people want a basic citizenship test before you could vote.

At least know the names of the VP, your two Senators, the 3 branches of gubmint...basic stuff like that.

Lots of voters just watch attack ads, then decide.

And, that's legal, too.

Whatcha gonna do?

Which is worse?

The US "news" media, or the US Congress?

Both suck pretty bad.

That's why lots of people don't care enough to pay attention...
