The early account made by the future CIA officer who became the "whistle-blower" shows how determined he was to make known his allegations that Mr. Trump asked Ukraine’s government to interfere on his behalf in the 2020 election. He spent a 4 month period gathering information before he wrote it.

The whistle-blower spoke with “a half dozen U.S. officials” over a four-month period before the he filed the complaint.

“I have received information from multiple U.S. government officials that the president of the United States is using the power of his office to solicit interference from a foreign country in the 2020 U.S. election,” said the complaint.

Schiff claimed, “We have not spoken directly with the whistle-blower,” when the whistle-blower had reach out to a committee aide before filing a complaint.

Schiff took the question as meaning they had not spoke to him under the official guidelines of Committee interviews.

It was clearly known, however, that the committee hadn’t officially interviewed the whistle-blower at that time.
