The Colorado Avalanche have moved on to the 2nd round of the NHL playoffs, where they will face the San Jose Sharks. The Avs will certainly be the more well-rested team, as they ousted the top-seeded Calgary Flames in 5 games, 4-1, whereas the Sharks had to go to overtime in the 7th game to advance, and looked like they were goners when they were down by a score of 4-1 in the 3rd period of that game. Quite a comeback by them, but they might be tired out.

And the Denver Nuggets will PROBABLY advance to the 2nd round in the NBA playoffs, having a 3-2 lead over the San Antonio Spurs, and the home court advantage. They can close out the series tonight in San Antonio, but even if they lose, the series will come back to Denver for the deciding 7th game. If the Nuggets win the series, they will move on to face the Portland Trailblazers, and the Nuggets will likely be favored to win that series, which would put them into the Western Conference Finals-----probably against the Golden State Warriors.

Add in the NFL draft over the next three days.....Fun times for Colorado sports fans! [Even though the Rockies are off to a crummy start on the year.]

The Colorado Buffaloes football team also has a new coach going into next year, and I think people are excited about that.....

Agreed San Jose may have run out of gas in round 1. Especially with Colorado being so young and the Sharks being so, so, so old.

But that game 7 was such an inspiration for San Jose. Everyone's cheering for them now. They must have that "it's destiny" feel going on.

How many Vegas players punched a wall that night?

Mr. Leroy,

Interesting, having the Avalanches being knocked out of the playoffs by the Sharks and the Nuggets being knocked out by the Warriors is exciting times for you?

It would be quite an achievement by the Nuggets just to get to the Conference Finals. They've only been that far once before, during the Dan Issel years, I believe. No one in Denver really expects the Nuggets to get to the NBA Championship. Indeed, they now find themselves in a nervous Game 7 against probably the greatest NBA Coach of all time. Got to get past THAT first, and then get past the Portland Trailblazers, before they can even think about the Warriors. And the Warriors first have to get past the Rockets.

The Avs lost the first game of the series to the Sharks, so I'm sure you're quite confident about your prediction there.

The Avs also lost the first game of their series to the Calgary Flames, and then reeled off four wins in a row.

So don't count your chickens before they hatch. Certainly don't count them before the rooster has even crowed. Because that would not be prudent.

Yay! The Denver Nuggets move on to face the Portland Trailblazers in the 2nd Round of the NBA Playoffs, vanquishing the San Antonio Spurs tonight in a Game 7 thriller, 90-86. As the #2 seed, the Nuggets will have the home court advantage in the first two games of the 7-game series with the Trailblazers, and I think they will win that series and move on to the Western Conference Finals to face either the Golden State Warriors or the Houston Rockets. This is the first time the Nuggets have advanced to the 2nd Round of the playoffs since 2009.

Ha! The Colorado Avalanche now have the home ice advantage in their series with the San Jose Sharks, having evened the series at 1-1 with their 4-3 victory last night, and the series now moves back to Colorado for the next two games. Ha!

And the game last night was not that close, with the Sharks scoring a meaningless goal with only some 15 seconds left in the game.

I do believe the Avs are gonna WIN this series, and move on to the conference finals.....

Update time! The Colorado Avalanche won early in overtime last night to force a decisive Game 7 in their series with the San Jose Sharks. The game will be in San Jose tomorrow night. Will be tough for the Avs to win on the road in that place, but they at least gave themselves a chance to pull out this series and advance to the conference finals, against either the Dallas Stars or the St. Louis Blues, who also have a deciding Game 7 tonight.

Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets and the Portland Trail Blazers are tied 2-2 in their 7-game series, so it becomes a best 2 of 3 series at this point. The Nuggets regained the home court advantage by winning the last game in Portland. Those two teams played an amazing 4 OT game in the 3rd game of the series in Portland, only the 2nd time in NBA history that a playoff game went to a 4th overtime-----and no game has ever gone beyond that. Denver should have WON that game in the 3rd OT, they were up by 4 points with 30 seconds to go, and had the ball with a full shot clock. Had a silly turnover at that point, and somehow ended up going to the 4th OT. 5th game in Denver is tonight, hoping the Nuggets go up 3 games to 2, then they COULD close it out by winning the next game in Portland.

And hey, since I just started watching the Nuggets in their first series with the San Antonio Spurs, I gotta say this: Nuggets player Nikola Jokic is a manimal!!
