Five Washington, D.C., religious leaders and two retired or inactive D.C.-based judges have launched an effort designed to force President Trump to fully disengage from the Trump family business while serving in office.

And unlike other challenges, this one has a very narrow, precise, and attainable target: The Trump International Hotel D.C.’s liquor license, which Trump continues to hold personally, despite having purportedly stepped back from Trump Organization business dealings.

[snip]

That is because Trump remains the owner of the licensee—the Trump International—and D.C. law requires an owner to be "of good character.” The complainants argue that Trump having been accused of sexual assault by at least 16 women, his foundation continuing to be dogged by allegations of impropriety, his failure to pay contractors money owed, his maintenance of relationships with alleged criminals, and his attitudes toward minority groups and regarding race relations collectively mean he falls short of the legal “good character” standard.

Trump tried to have his cake and eat it too by keeping his businesses. Hopefully the whole thing blows up in his face. Mind you, it would just be another failed business venture from the great Trumps. If there's one thing he's the best at...

The more of this crap Leftists pull, the more inoculated the President becomes as people see right through this garbage. Most of what you posted as objections are accusations and allegations, which will carry no weight.

It's a creative idea, and has legs. Liquor licenses are most definitely creatures of state law and personal character is most definitely a core issue.

But.......Trump hasn't been charged, nevermind convicted, of any crimes. Similarly situated persons (other license holders) must be treated similarly in order for state action to comply with due process. It's not likely D.C. has ever revoked on the basis of bad reputation, especially for conduct that doesn't directly threaten customers (e.g., selling bar stock as top shelf liquor via a fraud.)

So....splashy, and no doubt fun, but ultimately probably not effective.

Is my prediction, anyway.

The insane left, tearing the nation down since November 9, 2016. Some of these people must be paid by Russia, as they are doing what Putin wants, spread dissension at every opportunity.

Yeah, I see the natural alliance between me and Putin.

You are so dependent on fairy tales, even you must realize how much of what you wish were true is nonsense.

It's a known fact that he's a liar. That's enough to get elected, but the liquor licence should be bye bye. Not that it cannot be corrected, let an employee hold the license.
Next step impeachment!!!!

You think liquor licenses should be yanked from holders who are proven liars?

Dafuq? That is ridiculous. I'm not sure even a felony conviction should support terminating a license.

What rational bearing does a reputation for truthfulness have on the lawful service of alcohol to the public?

What might work is yanking Trump's license for associating with organized crime. From the gangsters buying units in Trump Tower, to his shady overseas deals, to his history of cavorting with organized crime in the 1980's and 1990's, that might be sufficient.

And it would sure be fun to try!
