Trump administration proposals could cause millions to lose food stamps
“SNAP is related to hunger and getting people the nutrition they need,” one food bank representative said. “Food shouldn’t be a luxury.”
By Phil McCausland

"Craig Gundersen, an agricultural and consumer economics professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who has studied the program for more than two decades, said that about a million people could become food insecure because of the change. He added that 50 percent of those 3.7 million SNAP beneficiaries were already food insecure despite the assistance."
"The changes, he said, would put many Americans in a worse position, increasing hunger and health issues. Each additional adult who becomes food insecure sees an additional $2,000 in healthcare costs, Gundersen explained."
"The latest rule change proposed by the Trump administration would cause millions of people to take smaller deductions for shelter and utility costs, which are considered when a person applies for SNAP benefits. Critics say that would force people to choose between buying food and paying for housing."

That is simply Outrageous! We've been saying all along that Republicans don't care at all for the poorest of people in this country or for the elderly and others that need help and Trump is now proving that to continue to be true despite the fact that they have paid their taxes during their working years and many still do. How on earth can he feel comfortable and satisfied taking away food from the mouth of the hungry while he wines and dines in extreme comfort and luxury? Even those on the SNAP program, he must realize, pay their taxes and are citizens of these United States worthy of receiving that benefit when they have fallen on hard times and are in need of food. It's a cold, hard fact that everyone needs to eat but apparently according to Trump those with less voice, the poor, the elderly and the sick, can simply suffer it out and do with little to no food. That's why it takes a Democratic President to be truly concerned about Americans and to help the people in these United States and why it has now become imperative that We Have One Elected In 2020!

Only that is not fake news. That is REALITY, mister! Trump doesn't give a damn about the poor and you know it. That is sad and execrable.

1. When one gets a job, depending on whether they are well enough and able to work and are young to obtain such a job of course they don't need food stamps but they're talking about those that don't have the ability to make that type of money who are old, sick and disabled and poor families.

2. Food Stamps, whether state or federal still has Trump jumping to diminish what little they get already so what does that tell you? That He Doesn't Give A Damn.

3. If Trump does not have executive power in any state then let's remove the federal government altogether and see what happens. Not a pretty scenario it would be. Fact of the matter is that states still bend to his will on many things and of course you know they do. Perhaps that should change, huh?

Another thing is that if Trump takes away what little food benefit SNAP recipients have they can get seriously ill from lack of nutrition and nourishment. Then what's going to happen? The poor are going to resort to have to go More Often to hospitals, clinics and other medical facilities to get care for that and since they will not be able to pay for their medical care it will fall upon other Americans to pay for it. Do you want for that to happen? That's why Trump is very wrong in what he is doing. He must not reduce the benefits of the SNAP Program or his plan will make many poor, elderly and sick Americans even sicker and that is going to be one hell of a fiasco.

This comes from the Trump Department of Agriculture, not from the states.

Food stamp changes would mainly hurt those living in extreme poverty, study finds

The Trump administration’s proposed rule change to food stamp work requirements could leave hundreds of thousands of the most financially vulnerable Americans without the monthly assistance that allows them to purchase food, a new study finds.

If you between the ages of 18 and 49, childless, not disabled, you should be working. If there aren't any jobs where you live, move to a place where there are jobs. You are responsible for yourself.

Actually, under the law, yes, some can depending on whether they meet other criteria.

SNAP Policy on Non-Citizen Eligibility

"Only U.S. citizens and certain lawfully-present non-citizens may receive SNAP benefits. Non-citizens who are eligible based on their immigration status must also meet other SNAP eligibility requirements such as income and resource limits."
