Nobody knew Trumps supporters were Prince fans. Like the Chinese, Trump apparently doesn't care about intellectual property either.

President Donald Trump's musical selection during a rally in Minneapolis didn't sit well with Prince's estate Thursday night.
"Purple Rain" was played during the rally in the music legend's hometown and the estate was quick to respond with a tweet. "The Prince Estate will never give permission to President Trump to use Prince's songs."
This isn't the first time the estate has asked the Trump campaign to stop playing Prince's music.
In the same tweet, the estate embedded a letter dated "October 15, 2018," showing the Trump campaign agreed to stop using Prince's music.

It reads: "... to avoid any future dispute, we write to inform that the Campaign will not use Prince's music in connection with its activities going forward."
The Trump campaign has heard this tune before. "Stop playing our music."

Well here is the issue with that. Most artists give the rights to their music to promotional agencies to sell and in most cases they have no say after that, they just collect the profits. Trump legally acquired the license to perform that music so it's the artist's fault for letting go of their property for money. These license agencies are called PRO's and sell the music from everything from radio stations to promotional benefits and anyone can apply for the right to play that music. In some cases an artist will insist on a clause to override the PRO but that rarely happens meaning they have no control over who their music is leased to. I believe Queen was the last artist to insist on this type of clause.

Twitter has removed a Donald Trump campaign video from the president’s account after Queen complained about unauthorized use of the band’s song “We Will Rock You.”

The entire song played in the background of the video, which showed clips of the president at rallies, and was tweeted by Trump Wednesday. The video was taken down by Sunday, with an explanation from Twitter: “This video has been removed in response to a report from the copyright holder.”

In the case of the Prince song, Trump's campaign used it. They were asked not to, the Campaign used it again anyway after writing that they would respect the wishes of the family.

most people with even an ounce of sense and common courtesy would not play an artist song's if they asked him not to. that is why trump doesn't give a shit. he does not have an ounce of sense and common courtesy and neither do but a tiny handful of his voters.

These Trump campaign people are the best because he only hires the best, lol. Unfortunately nobody asked Trump to clarify what they are the best at doing? If it was Fucking up then he was right.

I don't know. lots of people fuck up better than these clowns, they are not so obvious and easily caught. they do, however, fuck up the most frequently of any group in history. in fact, it is impossible to name a time they did not fuck up.

It’s pretty obvious Prince, when he was alive, and now his estate are very protective of his music. Trump is a disrespectful pig.
i would feel the same if elizabeth warren played some song, and the artist objected and she did it anyway because there was no legal way of making her stop. this is just common courtesy and decency, two things trump has never had.
