This EO will be shot down in court, and anyone with 2 neurons to rub together knows it.

Trump doesn't care. This is all about keeping his racist bigot base excited.

I believe one of the things the census determines - is how much Federal aid that state can obtain.

"Donald Trump doesn't want you counted, so make sure you count," said Thomas Saenz, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, known by the acronym MALDEF. "The data is secure. It's critically important to be counted," he said, noting that because the question is about citizenship and not an immigration status, "it can't really be used reliably for enforcement activities."

Nobody is ever forced to become a US citizen. You can live in the US as long as you like with a green card. The official name of a green card is a legal permanent residence card. Permanent. SO you can legally reside permanently in the US.

The leaders of the Mexican community will advise the folks how to answer and feel safe, no doubt.

That is like putting your approval on those who are here illegally. Why would Mexico or someone like you care about vioating our immigration laws. So what the hell....open the borders to anyone and everyone. Trump does not want you, me or anyone not counted. He wants everyone counted and if you are afraid to answer the questions, then maybe you don't belong here. There is no force to become a US citizen. I have friends that have come from other countries and their choice is not to become a citizen and that's fine, but if you enter this country illegally, you don't belong here. Plain and simple.

he's actually going to hold a press conference to announce it. There's no question why he's doing this. He's gearing up for his reelection. The move will be challenged in court. It won't be allowed to go into effect. All it does is keep his based riled up about immigration. Trump truly believes this is a winning issue. He doesn't care that we're headed towards a constitutional crisis. Not like he did when Obama was president anyway.

Well guess your thread is totally bogus....lol Trump, 'not backing down' in effort to count citizens amid census fight, announces executive order

Trump, 'not backing down' in effort to count citizens amid census fight, announces executive order

Trump: We spend $20 billion on the census and can't ask if someone is a citizen
President Trump addresses his push for a citizenship question on the 2020 census while delivering remarks during White House social media summit.
President Trump, speaking at the White House on Thursday, announced that he would "immediately" issue an executive order to get an accurate count of non-citizens and citizens in the United States -- a measure Trump said would be "far more accurate" than relying on a citizenship question in the 2020 census.

The move would make use of "vast" federal databases and free up information sharing among various federal agencies concerning who they know is in the country, Trump said.

"Today I'm here to say we are not backing down in our effort to determine the citizenship status of the United States population," the president told reporters, after slamming Democrats he said were playing politics with national security.
He called legal opposition to adding a citizenship question to the 2020 census "meritless."
