Would he be eligible for retirement pay? I don't think he put his 20 years in. VA benefits I could see because he will definitely need those since he most likely will never get a job. I bet a book may be in his future tho...how else will he be able to pay off the 1000.00 a month fine for the next 10 months.
Don't think that is actually what that portion of the "sentence" means.

At the time of Bergdahl's release/trade from the Taliban it was reported he was entitled to between $150,000 and $300,000 in back pay. (The ranged depending on whether he was determined to have been a "prisoner of war" during his time away.)

My understanding is that the "10 months X $1000" condition set by the judge will just be a deduction from that total.

And the current Dishonorable Discharge comes with a loss of all veterans benefits moving forward.
