Title: US threatens further criminal actions against Chinese firms

1. The following are excerpts from a news report by Shawn Donnan of Bloomberg News, posted on 10 December 2018 under the headline "Trump Trade Rep Tries to Insulate China Talks From Huawei Case".

(Begin excerpts)
(Bloomberg) -- President Donald Trump’s trade czar insisted that the U.S.’s pursuit of a Huawei executive for allegedly violating Iran sanctions was separate from trade talks with China, but warned that further criminal actions against Chinese companies were likely in the future.

Speaking on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Robert Lighthizer, the U.S. trade representative, also played down the possibility of extending a tariff truce between the world’s two largest economies beyond the current 90 days....

“It’s my view that it should not really have much of an impact. I can understand from the Chinese perspective how they would see it that way. This is a criminal justice matter. It is totally separate from anything that I work on,’’ he said.

He also, however, warned that further cases against Chinese companies were likely as part of a broader crackdown on China’s theft of technology and other issues such as sanctions violations.

“It is certainly true that there will be continuing criminal justice matters that will go on, that will come up,’’ Lighthizer said.

Lighthizer, who’s seen as a China hawk in the Trump administration, set a high bar for a deal with Chinese officials, saying the U.S. was looking for meaningful and verifiable “structural changes’’ related to Chinese policies aimed at stealing U.S. technology....

He also said he couldn’t reassure financial markets, which have been nervous about the possibility of a truce crumbling, that a deal would be forthcoming by a March 1 deadline.... (End excerpts)

2. That fellow must be talking with his head in the cloud and his mouth at his very bottom when he insisted: "It’s my view that it should not really have much of an impact." How can his view be similar to others, including 1.4 billion Chinese? Unless that fellow is a phantom that could possess the bodies and minds of one fifth of the world’s population, he could not claim such nonsense.

It is laughable and contradictory that while trying to calm fears over the fallout of the Huawei saga, that fellow warned that it would not be the last case against a Chinese firm. In other words, he threatened "further criminal actions against Chinese companies" in the future.

One would wonder whether he would stand idly like a zombie if his grandchildren or related family members got a sound thrashing in school without prior consultation with him? Trump and company seem to be going all out to play with fire as if one fifth of mankind is non-existent or already dead.

Title: US has crossed the "Yalu River" of tech war

Using the analogy of the 1950 Korean War, the US has crossed the "Yalu River" of tech war through its arrest of the Huawei CFO without prior consultation with China. The US threat of arresting more top executives of other Chinese firms to fill up its fast depleting coffers is analogous to its invading forces threatening to advance deeper into Chinese territories to plunder and destroy.

If China under Chairman Mao did not stand its ground and push back forcefully against the invading forces near the Yalu River in 1950, the history of the entire world would be different. China's resolute action in 1950 had not only ended the Korean War but also maintained a long period of peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula since then.

The present crisis calls for calm but resolute action. Like the Korean War in 1950, China must stand its ground and respond forcefully against more US threats and intimidation. China's great resolution in facing the US invaders in 1950 not only provides food for thought but also a valuable lesson for its leaders in facing the crisis.

Let me elaborate in further detail on my thread. At the mention of Korean War, some people may at once get the wrong idea that I am proposing a "hot" or physical war with guns, cannons or missiles.

What I actually suggest is that China must prepare to clash head on with the US in the present crisis. Using an analogy of two men wrestling at the edge of the rooftops of a skyscraper, the fighter who is prepared to die together with his opponent will have a greater chance of winning before resorting to such extreme measures. In other words, he must not hesitate to hold tightly onto his opponent so as to die jumping down together from the skyscraper.

Hence, any country including China will increase its chance of winning the trade war or tech war when it faces the crisis calmly but prepares to fight to the end even if the Jekyll-Hyde US leader or Tariff Emperor increases the tariffs to one million percent or higher.

In short, who can stop you on the path to victory if you are afraid of nothing even death?

Victory goes to the Fearless!

Title: Trumpian pawn

1. Donald Trump tweeted on Mar 2, 2018:

2. By now, however, it is obvious that "trade wars are NOT good, and NOT easy to win". Hence it won’t come as a surprise to find several Chinese nationals arrested for unsubstantiated charges in the US even before the latest arbitrary detention of the Huawei CFO. Trump seems to be using Chinese nationals as political pawns in his dangerous political game to achieve his personal political agenda.

3. As noted by a netizen in a US political forum:

"Something that everyone should take note of, if only for the concerning legal precedent it sets.

If one country can take its laws and apply it to everyone else in the world, what type of place is that going to be?

.... I'm pretty sure the U.S. laws she is being charged with don't specifically say they were designed to include foreign citizens in foreign countries anywhere in the world.

If that's how it works, imagine how many laws in other countries you are violating right now."

4. In this thread, I coin the term "Trumpian pawn" for any innocent foreigner who has become an unsuspecting victim of state-sponsored terrorism of another country.

Title: Navarro

1. Brent D. Griffiths is a web producer for POLITICO. He is a former POLITICO and POLITICO Pro intern who covered breaking news and health care. He received his undergraduate degree from of the University of Iowa, where he worked all four years for the independent student newspaper, The Daily Iowan. The following are excerpts from his 06 October 2018 news report headlined "Navarro: ‘Special place in hell’ for Trudeau".

(Begin excerpts)
White House trade adviser Peter Navarro lit into Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Sunday, saying there's a "special place in hell" for a world leader who double crosses President Donald Trump.

"There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad-faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door," Navarro told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday." "And that's what bad-faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference."

When asked whether the president shares his views, Navarro said the sentiment came “right from Air Force One.“ At the time of the interview, the president had just landed in Singapore for his upcoming summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

"To my friends in Canada, that was one of the worst political miscalculations of the Canadian leader in modern Canadian history," Navarro added. "All Justin Trudeau had to do was take the win."

The president slammed Trudeau via Twitter on Saturday, calling out his counterpart for acting "meek and mild." Trump and the White House are upset that Trudeau told reporters that Canada would stand firm when it came to new U.S. tariffs and “not be pushed around.".... (End excerpts)

2. With regard to Navarro's threat of "a special place in hell" for Trudeau, I am inspired to coin the term "Navarro" with the following meanings:

(a) The name (as a proper noun ) for the deepest part or level of Hell.

(b) The dead end of a period such as life, career, dynasty, reign, etc.

The following sentences show how to use the new term:

(a) In an eulogy for his political foe, he sarcastically praised the deceased for having the guts to race ahead of him to Navarro.

(b) The politician threatened to send the opposition to Navarro.

(c) Following the death of his wife, life has become meaningless and he feels as though he has fallen into Navarro.

(d) The president yelled at the reporter who pestered him with annoying questions: "Fake news! Get lost in Navarro!"

(e) As he was the favourite eunuch of the emperor, he was the second most powerful person in the empire. However, after the death of the emperor, he knew he was at the navarro of his political career. Hence he requested the new emperor to let him retire to his home village.

(f) As his illness became more serious, he knew he was approaching the navarro of his life.

(g) As the sale of his latest music album is not up to expectation, he knows that he has reached the navarro of his singing career.

(h) As the rebels broke into the palace, the emperor committed suicide, knowing that his dynasty had reached its navarro.

Title: Navarrophobia

1. The following are excerpts from an article headlined "Chronophobia".

(Begin excerpts)
Chronophobia is a specific psychological phobia which manifests itself as a persistent, abnormal and unwarranted fear of time or of the passing of time....

Sufferers may be aware of a vague feeling that events are moving too fast and running away with themselves, and that it is difficult to make sense of the way events are unfolding. Chronophobia is often marked by a sense of derealization in which time seems to speed up or slow down, and some people may develop circular thought patterns, racing thoughts and symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Chronophobia is most often experienced by two main groups: the elderly, and by those incarcerated in prison (where it also known as prison neurosis). The elderly tend to have a lot of idle time on their hands, and often time drags very slowly for them. Perhaps unsurprisingly, it is common for old people, particularly those facing terminal illnesses, to be hyper-aware of their imminent death (death anxiety), and this constant threat of death can cause an overwhelming sensation of chronophobia. As people get older, their metabolism and brain functions slow down, making them even more susceptible to chronophobia. Prison inmates also tend to have extensive periods of unstructured time, which may lead them to excessive contemplation of the passing of time, the length of time of their sentence, the number of days remaining until their release, etc. They also typically experience high levels of anxiety and stress due to their circumstances, which puts them especially at risk.... (End excerpts)

Source: Chronophobia – Exactly What Is Time?

2. Next I am going to discuss an entirely new phobia which is opposite to chronophobia but more devastating and terrifying to the sufferer.

It can be defined as the persistent, abnormal and unwarranted fear of no future or the irrational feeling that time has come to a standstill for the sufferer but moving, even faster, for all other people around him. Everything to the sufferer seems to come to a navarro (a term coined by me to mean "dead end" in an earlier thread). He feels as though he has fallen into Navarro (a term coined by me to mean the deepest part of Hell in an earlier thread).

You can imagine the phobia of the sufferer, if you had a nightmare in which you were rendered motionless while seeing all other people surging ahead till they were out of sight leaving you alone in the world. Similarly, it is a terrible feeling for a country to have such a feeling of stagnation or growing impotence while the rest of the world are progressing or surging ahead in development.

In such a phobia, the sufferer tends to be unduly alarmed and overexcited when he sees others planning for the future because he simply sees no future for himself. For instance, when a champion athlete reaches his peak performance, he may have such a phobia. When he finds his rival training very hard day and night, he will make all sorts of weird claims, saying all other athletes "aren’t going to have a future".

Taking another example, a boxing champion who has reached his physiological limit may develop such a phobia as though time has stood still. No matter how hard he trains, he feels that he can never return to his former self or "make himself great again". Hence when he discovers his rival drawing up plans to train for the next boxing match, he will hurl all sorts of wild accusations, saying all other boxers "aren’t going to have a future".

As a follow-up to the term “navarro” which I coined in an earlier thread, I call the new phobia about “no future” or “stagnation” or “standstill in time” by the name of navarrophobia”.

Title: Navarron

1. Stephen Lendman was born in 1934 in Boston, MA. In 1956, he received a BA from Harvard University. Two years of US Army service followed, then an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1960. After working seven years as a marketing research analyst, he joined the Lendman Group family business in 1967. The following are excerpts from his April 4, 2018 article headlined "US/China Trade War Escalates".

(Begin Excerpts)
...In late March, Trump’s trade advisor Peter Navarro said “China, in my view, brazenly has released this China 2025 plan that basically told the rest of the world, ‘We’re going to dominate every single emerging industry of the future, and therefore your economies aren’t going to have a future” – a disgraceful perversion of truth.

America wants its longstanding position as the world’s dominant political, economic, financial and military power maintained unchallenged.

As development of China, Russia and other nations advance considerably, America’s dominant position slips.

Russian super-weapons are more advanced than Washington’s. China is heading toward becoming the world’s leading economy.

Reality doesn’t go down well in America, slipping as other nations advance.

Trade wars assure losers, not winners. Trump’s strategy is wrongheaded. Economic damage done to both countries will be clearer in the months ahead. (End excerpts)

Source: US/China Trade War Escalates - Stephen Lendman

2. With regard to Peter Navarro's "disgraceful perversion of truth", I coin the term "navarron" for a thug or bully who cowardly avoids any challenge to his dominant position but disgracefully intimidates the challenger instead.

(a) For instance, do you think global education is going to have a future if there is a navarron in every class threatening his classmates not to excel but fail all examinations so that he can maintain his first position in class?

(b) Taking another example, do you think global commerce is going to have a future if there is a navarron in every office threatening his colleagues not to work hard so that he can be seen by his employer as the most hardworking employee?

(c) Taking this final example, do you think all restaurants in the world are going to have a future if there is a navarron in every restaurant's kitchen threatening his colleagues not to cook properly so that he can be seen by all customers as the best chef of the restaurant?

Title: Navarmorrow

1. The following are excerpts from a news report by Mikio Sugeno, Nikkei Washington bureau chief, posted on December 22, 2018 under the headline "China is trying to steal our future: Navarro" and the subheading "Hard-line White House adviser says trade agreement in 90 days will be difficult".

(Begin excerpts)
WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump's trade adviser told Nikkei that it would be "difficult" for the U.S. and China to arrive at an agreement after the 90-day period of talks unless Beijing was prepared for a full overhaul of its trade and industrial practices.

In an extensive interview at the White House on Thursday, Peter Navarro, an assistant to the president as director of trade and industrial policy, said there are "no half-measures," and that China has to address all of America's concerns for the two sides to come to terms. Those include forced technology transfers, cyber intrusions into business networks, state-directed investments, tariffs and nontariff barriers.

"China is basically trying to steal the future of Japan, the U.S. and Europe, by going after our technology," the adviser said.

On Beijing's "Made in China 2025" initiative, a blueprint for pivoting the country into a leading position in areas such as artificial intelligence and fifth-generation wireless communication, Navarro called it a "label for a Chinese strategy to achieve dominance in the industries of the future."...

Pointing to a panel listing 53 examples of China's economic aggression, including items such as "consolidating of state-owned enterprises into national champions," "debt-trap financing to developing countries," and "dumping below cost into foreign markets," Navarro said, "Virtually everything on here is against the rules of the World Trade Organization," and that China would have to address all of the issues "if we are going to have a negotiation that results in success."

The hawkish adviser...said that intellectual property theft was part of China's culture as a communist state. "It goes back to the communist system, where there are no property rights. If there are no property rights, you can't steal property, right?" he said.

Navarro said that smartphones manufactured by China's Huawei Technologies pose a clear risk in that "those phones can be used to spy on our citizens or our government." He said that the constant software updates were the main source of concern.... (End excerpts)

2. According to Why Do the Planets of Our Solar System Revolve Around the Sun?

(Begin excerpts)
There are two opposing forces that determine the orbit of a planet: planetary inertia and the gravitational pull of the Sun. In order to create a stable orbit, these forces must remain perfectly balanced. The Sun is the most massive object in the solar system, and it has the strongest gravitational pull. Without the Sun's gravity, the forward momentum of the planets would carry them into deep space, just as their sideways momentum keeps the planets from falling inward and being consumed by the Sun. (End excerpts)

3(a) As explained in the above passage, "Without the Sun's gravity, the forward momentum of the planets would carry them into deep space". Hence if the two opposing forces are out of equilibrium one day, the earth will go off course into deep space. From then onwards, earthlings will wake up without seeing sunrise as the whole world will be in eternal darkness. If Navarro is still around on that doomsday, he will definitely accuse China of stealing the future of the US and other countries.

With regard to Navarro's phobia about no future, I call that day "without tomorrow or future" by the name of "navarmorrow".

3(b) If Archimedes could be resurrected, he might find a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it to move the world away from the sun.

3(c) That doomsday scenario is also possible if a gigantic hand of a Super Being suddenly stretches out from nowhere to strike planet Earth off course into deep space. No country is capable of making such a gigantic hand. Hence if anyone still raves day and night about his country's future being stolen by others, that fellow must be talking with his head in the cloud and his mouth at his very bottom.

Title: A little but significant drama

The South China Morning Post reported on 21 November, 2018 that Peter Navarro would be excluded from the high-stakes US-Sino dinner meeting in Argentina. About one week later, however, it reported that he was back on the guest list.

The following “intelligent guesses” of mine may offer some insights into the events leading up to the Huawei CFO's arrest and Navarro's attendance in the Buenos Aires dinner meeting.

(a) Navarro’s initial exclusion from the guest list may be just a display of his tantrum and displeasure to Trump over their disagreement on the US-Sino dinner meeting.

(b) Just like an active volcano's occasional eruptions, it may be his way of highlighting his importance in the Trump team.

(c) Although many people may dismiss the event as a little drama with no significance, it can turn up to be something more sinister in view of the perfect coincidence between the Huawei CFO's arrest and the dinner meeting on the same day of December 1.

Peter Navarro's initial exclusion but eventual inclusion in the Buenos Aires dinner meeting will forever remain a historical mystery. Anyone may guess or speculate whatever he likes about the "apparent farce" over Navarro's dinner attendance. In the final analysis, only Navarro and Trump hold the key to the historical mystery.

In my opinion, Navarro might have decided not to attend the dinner meeting as a protest to Trump’s disagreement to arrest the Huawei CFO as both events happened to fall on the same day. As the day of the dinner meeting drew nearer, he might have even threatened to resign. As Trump regarded him as his favourite, he finally acceded to his demand to arrest the Huawei CFO on the same day of the dinner meeting. Knowing that his plan would be carried out, Navarro not only had the mood but the appetite to attend the dinner meeting. All this while, he must be laughing secretly at the opposite side and eyeing them hungrily like a bird of prey with his "eagle's eyes” across the table.

Title: Trumpian joke

While it was reported that a US government delegation will travel to Beijing in the week of January 7 to hold trade talks with Chinese officials, there was another report that Donald Trump is considering an executive order in the new year to declare a national emergency that would bar US companies from using telecommunications equipment made by China's Huawei and ZTE.

I coin the term "Trumpian joke" for such contradictory actions which are akin to an offer of handshake with one hand but a thrust at the heart with a dagger in the other hand. Another example is offering someone a seat but removing it stealthily when he is at the point of sitting down.

If you are a political leader, you must be on the alert if Donald Trump suddenly calls you for a peace or trade dialogue as it would give rise to apprehensions that something evil or mischievous is afoot.

Title: Disastrous 2019 predicted for Donald Trump

1. The following are excerpts from a 27 December 2018 AP news report headlined "Iraqi lawmakers demand U.S. withdrawal after Trump visit".

(Begin excerpts)
BAGHDAD — Iraqi lawmakers Thursday demanded U.S. forces leave the country in the wake of a surprise visit by President Donald Trump that politicians denounced as arrogant and a violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Politicians from both blocs of Iraq’s divided Parliament called for a vote to expel U.S. troops and promised to schedule an extraordinary session to debate the matter.

“Parliament must clearly and urgently express its view about the ongoing American violations of Iraqi sovereignty,” said Salam al-Shimiri, a lawmaker loyal to the populist cleric Moqtada al-Sadr....

Containing foreign influence has become a hot-button issue in a year that saw al-Sadr supporters win the largest share of votes in May elections. Al-Sadr has called for curbing U.S. and Iranian involvement in Iraqi affairs....

Qais Khazali, the head of the Iran-backed Asaib Ahl al-Haq militia that fought key battles against IS in north Iraq, promised on Twitter that Parliament would vote to expel U.S. forces from Iraq, or the militia and others would force them out by “other means.”....

Trump spent three hours at a U.S. air base meeting with American troops during his visit....

He left without meeting any Iraqi officials, though he spoke to Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi by phone....

Al-Shimiri said Trump’s visit “violated several diplomatic norms.” (End excerpts)

3. In view of his violation of diplomatic norms in Iraq and several other countries, plus his obsession in building a "big, beautiful wall" all the way across the US-Mexico border, Donald Trump’s erratic behaviours could be early signs of brain trauma as predicted by Baba Vanga, the "Nostradamus of the Balkans".

4. Below is a brief summary of the famous blind Bulgarian mystic Baba Vanga's life:

Baba Vanga, (31 January 1911 – 11 August 1996), born Vangeliya Pandeva Dimitrova, known after her marriage as Vangelia Gushterova, was a blind Bulgarian mystic, clairvoyant and herbalist, who spent most of her life in the Rupite area in the Kozhuh mountains in Bulgaria. Known as the “Nostradamus of the Balkans", she had already developed a noted reputation in her home country of Bulgaria by the time of her death in 1996 aged 85.

She mysteriously lost her eyesight at the age of 12 during a massive storm. Her family allegedly found her several days later on death's door – with her eyes sealed shut and covered with dirt. She later claimed to have experienced her first vision when she was missing and believed she had been given the power to predict the future and heal others.

She reportedly made hundreds of predictions in her 50-year career, many of which were never written down. She shot to prominence worldwide after accurately predicting the sinking of the Kursk in 2000.

In 1979, Vanga - who reportedly had an 85 per cent success rate with her predictions - told writer Valentin Sidorov that Russia would become "lord of the world" after Europe became a "wasteland". "All will thaw, as if ice, only one remains untouched – Vladimir's glory, glory of Russia," she reportedly said.

Among her many worldwide gloomy predictions for 2019, she predicted that Donald Trump will succumb to an unexplained illness that will cause him nausea, tinnitus, brain trauma and hearing loss, and a member of his family will be involved in a car crash.
