"The official deadline for an agreement is today, but the parties have all but declared that talks will not be concluded by the stroke of midnight. Though the negotiations are likely to continue for at least several more days in search of an agreement, the remaining obstacles and dragging timeline are raising questions about whether a deal will be reached."

"Even as officials from the United States and its allies emphasize their commitment to the diplomatic process, there's a heightened awareness that failure to reach a deal could increase the pressure for U.S. military action against Iranian nuclear sites. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter told CNN's Erin Burnett that while the U.S. is focused on the talks, it is also prepared to invoke the military option if they fall through. "We have the capability to shut down, set back and destroy the Iranian nuclear program and I believe the Iranians know that and understand that," Carter said."

"Critical to that capability is the powerful ground-penetrating bomb known as the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP) -- a 15-ton behemoth that can explode 200 feet underground and is designed specifically to destroy deeply buried and fortified targets. The MOP is the weapon of choice for underground sites such as the ones at Fordow and Natanz in Iran, which house some of that country's largest nuclear reactors."

"And the bomb is ready for use if needed, Carter said."

Why not give Iran one of our warheads… Ask them to CROSS THEIR HEARTS not to use it. It would be more realistic than this demented treaty.

Just heard on the news earlier Netanyahu is in favor of an agreement with Iran. Wonder what the die hardship will think of that.

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em,

He has always wanted an agreement but he wants unlimited access to inspect which Iran so far wont do.

Pundits claimed that Defense Secretary Ash Carter was definitely a war hawk, now it seems he is pushing the issue with this. Will be interesting to see if we do end up using force.

Anyone who believes the mullahs would abide by any agreement is a complete moron. This includes Obama and Kerry.

Congratulations, you have just guaranteed a war in the future.

It's not what you oppose that matters, it's how far the other guy is willing to go.
And I do not think Iran is itching to fight a war with the United States. A war that their leadership knows they would assuredly lose. Iran knows they would lose any support they ever had if they ever produced a nuclear weapon, much less used one, or sold one to militant Islamism.

It is Israel that Iran has a hard on for. Their government would love nothing more than to wipe them out and they have publicly stated this many times.
