Warren says Sanders told her a woman couldn't win the presidency
Sanders and his campaign have vehemently denied the claim.

"Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., on Monday said that Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt, in 2018 told her that he didn't think a woman could win the 2020 election — a statement the Sanders campaign had blasted as "a lie" earlier in the day."
"Bernie and I met for more than two hours in December 2018 to discuss the 2020 election, our past work together and our shared goals," Warren said in a statement. "Among the topics that came up was what would happen if Democrats nominated a female candidate. I thought a woman could win; he disagreed."
"The statement confirmed a CNN report earlier in the day on the 2018 meeting, which Sanders and his campaign strongly denied."

Is that just a "She Said, He Said" thing or could there be some veracity to what Warren is saying? Sanders denies it. Of course if it was said it would certainly not look any too good for him or his campaign especially with women voters and their supporters. Perhaps he needs to step up and speak to that very issue so that it can receive good clarification but Warren also needs to speak to her side of the story as well.

Not like I was there... but when looking at how politicians attack each other this could have easily gone down like::

Warren: "Do you think Hillary Clinton can win?"
Sanders: "No, I don't think so."

At this point Warren can say that Sanders does not think a woman can win, and technically speaking, it's not a lie. But again, I was not there... maybe he really doesn't think any woman can win the presidency. *shrug*

Funny you should mention Hillary Clinton. Sanders had the following to say about that in the OP with the link provided:

"He added that "of course" a woman could win. "After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016," Sanders said."

If someone from Warren's camp "leaked" this story, then gotta wonder what they were thinking. Warren has credibility issues. This story might damage Bernie, but it damages Warren as much by putting her at odds with Bernie on a personal level. A lot of people will trust Bernie over her. Because indeed, why, in 2018 after Hillary got 3 million more votes than Trump, would a liberal feminist like Bernie posit that a woman couldn't win? Especially why would he say it to his friend Warren who was beginning her campaign?

There is some remote possibility that it could be true, or that something related could be true -- like maybe Bernie suggested that being a woman made it an uphill climb for Hillary in the former blue wall states. But combining Warren's previous headline-making untruths with Bernie's flaming liberalism and his friendship with Warren -- if whoever decided to release the questionable story considered themselves a Warren ally then with allies like that, who needs opponents?
