The Obama Adminsitration is sending over Treasury Sec. Timothy Geithner to Germany to Pressure the Gadhafi Government throught economic penalties.....the US has already frozen 32 billion in Libyan assets.

WTF, why are we sending a US treasure Secretary to Germany to do this.....

1. We have an Ambassador in Germany
2. This would be S.O.S. Dept. territory
3. This would be S.O.D. Dept. territory
4. We have video-conferencing
5. We have the telephone

What a complete waste of money....and why would we send a US Treasure Secretary. What he making sure the deal goes thru with the selling of the NYSE to Deutche Bank?
Thoughts?

my immediate thoughst are....Why is McCain is over there for the sole purpose of reporting daily like a Fox New anchor and who's pocket is that coming out of?
How big of a waste is that?

It is not a waist of money for our nation to send people to over to Germany to Pressure the Gadhafi Government through economic penalties.

would you prefer we just make up willy nilly excuses and just invade..unprepared and unnecessarily?

Using all form of pressure and diplomatic negotiations is what is prudent.

Geithner is experienced in international finance and is familiar with US banking laws. Neither the Secretary of State nor the Secretary of Defense has such experience or specific knowledge. Sending him personally to German is one way to impress the importance of taking steps to isolate Ghaddafi upon German financial officials--we are not ready to talk about military action with their defense minister--and it allows us to deal with them at the highest level.

I would much rather pay for a short trip by Tim Geithner than to be stuck with the costs of maintaining a significant military force in Libya for the next decade.

Actually my thought was we use an Ambassador that is already there in the Country first.....then if we have to we send the appropriate people. Or do you think it is common for the US Treasury Secretary to go abroad and be involved in discusssions of conflict with other foreign leaders?

You must not have read my comments on Libya as I see no reason for the US to be there at all.....and when we have frozen all of Libyan 32 billion in assets......then what is there for a US Secretary to discuss with anyone? Does the US and The UN have to vote on sanctions against Libya? Uhm.....wouldn't that come first. You know the Declaration of Sanctions and a approval with the UN Security Council? What do you think about troops already there on the ground?

Did you not hear the willy nilly excuse to get involve into another countries civil affairs and now war? We are there for humanitarian reasons and that only any action taken must be done with other countries. Magically the US, Britain, and France all have CPS all on the ground.....you heard Gates and the Joint Chiefs.....to Invoke no Fly-Zone means we strike first. Also you have heard the US and Britain make statements that we will not allow Gadhafi to kill his people.

Did you forget about the regime change in Tunisia and where are all these refugees are headed?
You were saying something about being unprepared and unnecessary.....right?

Btw....Here is what Johnny Quest and his Bandit have to say-

Now McCain wants us to recognize the rebels in the East as the Official Government of Libya......

2chambers - Senators Lieberman and McCain discuss potential military option in Libya

Btw and On Meet The Press.....
Under who's authority is he making these declarations? Who is he speaking for? President Obama and the USA or President McCain?

I see now by the posted article that this is in fact President McCain and VP Lieberman making these comments and hacking the true president in the process.

""America should lead. The president should reverse the terrible decision he made to not support the demonstrators in Tehran," said McCain, criticizing the White House response and calling on the Obama administration to support calls for democracy in China.

Lieberman joined McCain in his critique, saying the White House response was too slow and not clear enough, though he acknowledged that the administration had been cautious in its response due to safety concerns for Americans still in Libya. "Now is the time for action, not just statements," Lieberman said. "

When it comes to Iran there is no remark that any American president can make that will get the attention of the malicious moronic mullahs of Tehran unless he said that we would fry you f -ers and them drop one as an example on Kharq Island.
