Is what? A criminal prosecution?

That right already exists in non-criminal situations, of course - i.e., civil cases as well. And Trump has that right in the Senate trial. An impeachment investigation is just an investigation - and he has been invited to participate, and has declined.

Which makes one wonder - is because he is hiding something (very probable) or just wants to please his "base"?

Either way, he cannot complain anymore that Congress is being unfair and mean to him.

So, refusing to turn over documents, refusing to sit for an in-person interview, but providing written answers that he lied about is, “cooperation”?

He’s been bitching for weeks that these hearings are unfair. Why is he scared to participate? Guilty much?
Trump is smart to avoid this corrupt process the democrats have created

You can keep repeating this as much as it suits you. If the process was unfair, the GOP could've walked away and let the voters decide the right of it.

Obviously, they felt compelled to not do that.
The democrats leaked what they thought would hurt Trump. They show how corrupt of a process they have made this

The Republicans have participated all along. They got to call and question witnesses during the investigation, just like the Democrats did. They also participated in all of the secret depositions.
Schiff denied most of the witnesses the GOp wanted. Schiff had very strict control over the GOP

Were the Bidens privy to sleazy Trump's threatening phone call --- do us a favor or you don't get the congressional authorized aid?
