Why are we so polarized?

What’s the incentive to stay healthy if I get Medicare for all? Might as well drink beer for breakfast and eat cookies all day long if there is no incentive to stay healthy. I paid for SS my whole working career, that’s a benefit I earned. Can’t fool me Atheist Man

No amount of health care can make up for an unhealthy lifestyle. The incentive is to stay healthy.

I had a buddy who was proud of the fact that he never went to the doctor. He was fit, could out hike guys half his age, and then....

congestive heart failure. It almost killed him. Luckily for him, it waited until he had Medicare. The bills approached seven figures.

He still hikes, is very fit all things considered, but is down to one lung.

A healthy lifestyle is great, but it doesn't guarantee health.

I think part of the reason why we have become divided is we are isolated, for the most part, from our neighbors, our community. Many Americans who use to go outside and talk to neighbors, have block parties, enjoy community activities, no long do this. Many Americans now spend their time on the computer, or they are watching Netflix or playing video games. Not much time for anything else.

To be honest, I don't know my neighbors, never see them outside, never have a conversation with them, never interact. Well, there was one exception. The people who lived next door to me for 20 years, just moved. We did interact once in awhile. He's a police officer, has a wife and young daughter. Nice people. I don't know their politics. Never asked.
Most people are too busy working to arrange neighborhood social events.

My dad became friends with a man at work, and was surprised to discover they'd lived across the street from each other for more than a decade.

He inherited wealth, and went through several bankruptcies. What that proves is that wealthy people have more opportunities, and money prevents mistakes from being catastrophic.
That's good. As long as we have enough money, the mistake of having elected a conman to the presidency won't be catastrophic.

dunno if that's so good. he's taking chances with the people's money. if he goes bust, he loses nothing personally.

I never based my health on who was paying for my healthcare. That's silly.

What's your incentive to stay healthy now? So you can collect your SSI that we all paid into. No difference.

Social Security is a Socialist Program. We all pay into it and we all use it. You are a Socialist.

I think its better to try to be healthy then never try at all. Sorry for your Buddy, but the fact he was in good shape will probably help him endure his congestive heart failure. One of my friends has congestive heart failure and is not in good shape, he’s struggling.

If I was a socialist, government would own my house and yours to and your car and take most of your income to pay for it. I am an Independent and you want me to be a dependent. Not going to happen
