I believe that Scripture is saying that the earth and everything in it were created in 6 literal days. I believe there was a real, literal, global flood.

What do you believe literally happened?

I think the writer had a 7 day vision of creation.

I think the flood was extensive and that it occupied the area where civilization originated.

I can't prove either of these theories and I don't think it's important for me to "believe" in my interpretation. They are just theories. My faith does not depend on having answers to every challenge to the Bible's literal accuracy.

I strongly disagree with those who think God dictated the Bible to the writers of the Bible. Those writers were inspired, but not infallible regarding details. The many differences between the source documents that the English translations are based on makes the idea of "perfection" in terms of details and facts unreachable.

The Bible is not a member of the Trinity. The Bible's inerrancy is based on what it contains, the word of God. But the Word of God is not limited to the words on the page. That "word" is what lives and grows in the heart's of men, not whether the begats have the exact number of years.

I wasn't talking about soft tissue, especially from a fundy christian website.

Can you give me a credible link to back yourself up, and not on soft tissue?

Do you have a link that says fossilization can't happen in thousands of years?

I simply think the Bible and science do not contradict each other.

[/quote]

If the bible says the earth is 6000 yrs old it sure as hell contradicts science! No credible scientist in the field believes in such nonsense and I don't care how fucked up your interpretation is.

You will find many scientists that believe in god and also believe in evolution and that the earth is alot older than 6000 yrs.

You will find many scientists that don't believe in god that believe in evolution and that the earth is alot older than 6000 yrs.

You won't find any scientists that totally discount evolution and think the earth is only 6000 yrs old or they would not be scientists.

Do you have a link to any scientific authority that so much as hints that a trilobite fossil could possibly be anywhere near as young as 6000 yrs? You are the one trying to prove that not the rest if us. And seeing as you believe your opinion is scientific why don't you stay away from the creationist websites and give us an honest to god scientific source.

Trilobites (pronounced traɪləˌbaɪt, meaning "three lobes") are a well-known fossil group of extinct marine arthropods that form the class Trilobita. Trilobites first appear in the fossil record during the Early Cambrian period (540 million years ago) and flourished throughout the lower Paleozoic era before beginning a drawn-out decline to extinction when, during the Devonian, all trilobite orders, with the sole exception of Proetida, died out. Trilobites finally disappeared in the mass extinction at the end of the Permian about 250 million years ago.

The above with minor alteration is considered fact for ALL of the scientific community. Nowhere will you find a credible scientist claim they are 6000 yrs old.

I can not debate your appeal to authority and appeal to popularity logic.

You also can't debate the fact the earth is far older than 6000 yrs.

So where does the Bible say the earth is 6,000 years old?

I'll bet it doesn't. Show me the passage.
